I had exactly the same problem with E60 without anything replaced. I tackled it a little bit different though and took 2nd hand cas which I cloned the original to - that didnt work so decided to update the cas with winkfp and it worked pefectly. So I suppose some kind of corruption in the flash of the cas.

The ISN can get corrupted (like any data) in the original ECU when the battery is low and the engine cranked so it is possible it was the original ECU. Usual BMW design. Seen a few. Taking the IMMO out is the way to go because it would have happened again. With regard to your concerns over the waveform with the rounded edges, on a decent probe there should be a little screw on your probe that alters it's capacitance. Tweaking this will square the edges up. They are rounded on one waveform and not the other because of the increased data speed (frequency so to speak) of the waveform.

Hi there Very informative video. 👍 I’m getting the following error after trying to jump start my e90 2011 when battery was very low about 7V, the car almost started but then suddenly the cranking voice changed and car don’t fire up. Charged the battery fully and tried, car cranked but no start. INPA shows following code. 4C18 - Message (terminal 15, 0×130) _ Permanent It cranks but no start. Can you Please share any ideas as to where should I start for errors. Is it a bad relay or a wire I’m looking for? Thanks.

Start by checking fuses... and I mean all the fuses... That proved OK, could have damaged a module... Low voltage does all sorts of weird things... Always charge the battery... and avoid jump starting... 👍👍👍

I have the same problem. I had a little accident with my car. after a few days it was just spinning, I changed the blue relay. I did a diagnostic and it showed there is no connection with dde but it is completely new and there is no trace of water. I thought it was with the battery but all cables have electricity around the battery. What could be the problem.

I have a similar issue on my car (BMW 520d E60, N47D20A engine from 2007, the version with 177HP), the difference being that my car actually starts and drives excellent, just I couldn’t get rid of the 2E3C error, no matter what I’ve tried. Everything started with me accidentally frying the ECU(DME) by connecting two wires in the wrong plugs. Afterwards the car will crank but it won’t start, so I found another DME, took it to a professional who copied the data from my old DME to the other one, so the car worked absolutely fine since (two years ago) but having the error mentioned. From what I understood from this video and other sources, it has something to do with the ISN from the EWS(CAS) which obviously is different to the one from the DME(ECU), as copying the data from the DME doesn’t copy the ISNas well, causing the above error. I have an ICOM A+B+C and a few software for BMW, but nevertheless I was unable to write the ISN on the new DME. Recently I discovered I have among all the software on my computer a little program called BMW ISN ver. 0.12.04.16 which I’m scared to try as I’m worried I will screw the car completely, but in some videos it seems it’s working. Also, I have another little program called “EWSSync” which it seems has the capability to read the ISN from the DME and write it into the EWS(CAS), but I would need an app capable to do the opposite, meaning to read the ISN from the EWS(CAS) and write it in the DME(ECU), since the DME was the part changed on my car. Any ideas if BMW ISN will work without causing trouble on my car? Any suggestions?

Depending on the car, you can either copy the ISN from the DME into the CAS, or vice versa... And yes, without sorting the ISN the car will not start, unless you immo off the ecu... 👍👍👍

The error is still present and it cannot be deleted from the ECU and everyone I asked said it can’t be done. Issues (1) Engine Fault code: 002E3C EWS-tamper protection Last occurred at: 390128 km

Possibly a stolen vehicle that was reposessed and impounded by police and then auctioned off? Or it came out of a crash? The error code in the CAS (starter motor terminal) kind of points towards somebody trying to hot-wire and steal it, and they just gave up once it didn't start.

I had a similar fault on a 1 series. There is a connector that splits off and distributes the battery positive to the alternator etc.

Great job, but siriusly why would you need an immo on such a old car, I understand on some new one, but still it is not an obstacle for a modern Thief. It just giving more trouble in a breakdown situation, I would delete it anyway.The best example of immo blocking possibility of a quick repair is Mercedes A class because of immo you can't quickly change the ECU to check if the problem is the airflow meter.
