Bmw e90 335i no ignition, won't start

After installation of new battery car won't start. I have tried everything nothing work.
Electronic steering lock (ELV) needs to be reset via BMW diagnostic tool or you can buy ELV emulator on eBay.

The problem was elv locked. Basically for whatever reason (could be weak battery) the steering wheel lock didn't perform as it should. If the dme doesn't get the correct signal from the lock. Dme won't let you start the car. There are multiple reasons why this could happen and how to fix this problem. I did fix this problem on multiple occasions on few different cars. There is a hardware fix and or software fix. If you'd like more info lmk

@@NIGHTLIFEPLUG as I said there's two ways how to fix it. Software way - you need scanner which is capable of resetting ELV (steering lock) If you don't have access to such a scanner... Hardware way - go to eBay look for BMW ELV EMULATOR that will fix the problem

Man, I hope this works. I got a 335i 06 and have the same shit going on. Dash and AC work fine, all elétrica stuff working, but motor just doesn’t fire up

@@dujoney7678 most likely it’s the same problem. This problem was on early models (2006) they fixed it later. Do you have steering wheel symbol on or padlock symbol on the dash? also if you put key in the ignition and you don't here steering mechanism move and you can turn the wheel it's 100%

Updated : Problem solved It was Steering column ELV he said it got a Bypass on Ebay fixes his problem

From fixing mine if my windows rolled down it tells me there's enough to crank but not enough if you keep opening doors ,so bad battery and most likely starter if you put a good battery in there. Always check fuses for starter.

The same problem happened to me too, I called the tow truck and my mechanic looked at it and said it is a “broken/not working” control unit and we got a new one directly from Germany it charged me 1200€

The biggest problem was putting it in neutral because it is in the parking lot the coachbuilder has forcefully lifted with his bare hands the “lid / base” of the shift lever and in there is a red button that you have to press after which you can put it in neutral

@Pruzina. I have a 320i bmw e90 n46 engine. The thing is when l put the key in the ignition l dont get the usual response like the key is sucked like. So now nothing no response dash board doesnt light up and steering remains locked . Hazards,radio, door lights and windows(only using the remote) work. I am baffled what could be wrong the ignition slot??

But shouldn't the ignition at least turn on? The lights on dash after you press start? Also I tested the starter by connecting 12V directly to it and it did turn over the engine so doesn't seems to me like a starter problem. But open to here any opinion as I'm out of ideas and options at this point

Ladislav Jurina yea than it’s not your starter. Next step is to check your ibs sensor on the battery

@@TrapN54Tv That's what I was suspecting from the beginning. What I saw other people were describing it's exactly the same as my. But one little detail in all cases problem went away after they disconnected IBS. Did happen in my case. I've disconnected damn IBS no change what so ever.

Ladislav Jurina have you checked the grounds underneath the car? Sometimes they get loose or even corroded. If it’s corroded than you’ll have to buy new ones

HOPE U SEE THIS You most def you yo shi dawgy, i got a question i got a 06 235i was running good and all parked it one night next morning didn’t wanna turn on, I would but key in and only light would come on break paddle was hard as well. I went and replaced my realy, 4, number 5 amp fuses and 2 big green 30 amp fues and it fired up was running it the whole day all good it was even running better then before 100%, night time comes I park it, morning comes and it don’t start up again, just doing basically the same thing as this car I put my key in no crank just lights come on and break paddle is hard still, it’s a push to start as well HOPE U SEE THIS DAWGY OR SOMEONE

If you can let me know what to do I’m trying find reply I’m having this problem went and got battery charged after trying start multiple times I have power window, lights everything, wouldn’t start still it kinda struggled to crank that morning when I turned off chilled like 30 mins went to leave again and car wouldn’t crank. Is it an easy fix that can be done at home?

Are you sure you have the same problem. I'm not super familiar with e36 chassis but I highly doubt they used same steering lock system. I bet your problem is somewhere else. What exactly is happening with your car?

You are right that I SHOULD register the battery. But 1. new battery has exact same specs like the old one and 2. non registered battery doesn't cause no start condition. but thanks for your input
