BMW e90 Android CCC CIC NBT MUST HAVE Update: Full Idrive Control

After purchasing a carplay unit to work with my Android head unit, i ended up finding a brilliant software update for the snapdragon base android CCC CIC and NBT head units. It now has full idrive integration. As in the idrive controller works in every app.

I’ve actually picked up a CarPlay unit that works behind a ccc unit that I wanted to test out, they are a lot cheaper than a full android. Only downside I can think of is no video playback. But installing it in my bro in laws car. We’ll see what it’s like tomorrow.

So... I bought my Android Display for CCC. My 2006 325i e92 has this hands free voice control thingy right next to the Menu button. In the original BMW Menu the iDrive Controller works fine but when I switch to Android Menu (doesn't matter if it is Android Auto or the normal Android Menu), the Android Display thinks it still is in the original menu and when I try to rotate the iDrive knob it automatically rotates back (haptic feedback?)... it has 4gb ram, android 12. If I install this update/ android version...can it work properly?

Thanks for the video, I have a few questions. I have an E90 with CCC unit. I bought a Android unit very similar to the one you have here. I have a few major issues with it, hoping you may be able to help. (though likely not as this is an old video =( ) - My unit works, but the dial on the iDrive moves the selection on screen at like 50x speed and so slightly moving it moves it from one end to the other. I have no idea how to lower the sensitivity of the idrive controller /the pot on the wheel itself etc. Any idea how to fix that? - If I return to the normal car interface menu, the screen is like half the size of the image, meaning the menu is stretched and appears twice as large as the screen, so the aspect ratio is all munted. Is there any settings I can use to switch from 1080 to the original CCC unit size? the Android ap it runs works fine in 1080 and is fluid/no stutter etc. - The new device has a Micro SD slot, so I formatted an MSD card, put some music on it, and plugged it in. however it tells me to format the card. So i did, then its empty so i put it back in my PC to add files... and it tells me to format the card. I've tried 4 brand new cards now, thinking maybe one of them was a dodgy clone from online. But 2 i bought at a reputible brick and motar store. They all do the same thing. 2 are 1Gb and 2 are 8Gb. I put them in the PC to confirm the size is accurate and not those fake cards, and they are all legit. but oth devices( pc and CCCunit) want to re-format the cards. I'm stuck in a loop. Have tried NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT, all with the same result. =( Any help you or anyone could provide would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance

I’ve since gotten a 2008 E82 135i with the flip up IDrive screen was wondering if you’ve ever converted one to android and retain the flip up functionality. I finally got my CCC navigation unit repaired and coded thank God 🙏🏼 haven't had music in a year! I have the Xtrons CCC Android 10.o navigation display unit like yours . But I got the unit on amazon last year and haven't installed it but it will be installed this week 4/2021 hopefully once installed I'll check those numbers on is to see if match. I do want everything to function on the I drive as well like yours! I know someone (bmw owners )who hopefully can update the display to current full idrive control Ps: I don't have apple iphone only android phone do I need car play?

Yes it does. Basically hold menu for 3 seconds and it’s like the android isn’t even in the car and my ccc now has a much better screen 🤣

I don’t like using it on the android. I always run the jb4 in my phone. And it’s always running. So leave the android for infotainment. My main issue was logging was a pain. You can do the log on the android but then when I get home emailing the logs from the android was a pain in ass

I own an E92 and i've got a few questions: Im my car I don't have a bluetooth module and thats been bothering me from the day I bought it. Does this Android Display Unit give me the opportunity to connect my phone to it itself or do I still need a Bluetooth module separately? Also im my car I can use voice commands. Would I still be able to use them with the unit in apps like Google Maps? Can I use this for hands free telephone calls and does it use the bmw built in microphone? Could I use my Mobilephone Hotspot for internet usage (spotify, KZbin) on the device? Could I download more Apps like Netflix and would they work? How hard is it to install such a thing? What should I expect to spent on this? Do you still think the device that you've built into the car is the best option out there? (Currently searching for one that fits best into the car in regards to IDrive controls, Apps usability etc.) If I bought one of those units I'd want it work seamlessly and with full support of the stock functions. (I hope you get what I'm saying.) Sorry for so many questions. Just very curious as such a purchases is not particularly cheap and shouldn't be made without thought. Also great videos! My iDrive was working fine on a Android 8.8. Stopped working, got a firmware upgrade, started working again (for a few hours) now the iDrive scroll wheel works but the select/enter doesn't UGH!!!! I am sure it is a Factory Setting somewhere but no idea what to change to fix it!

Hi So have been thinking about doing something to my old CCC interface in my E60, but so far the one thing that has kept me from doing it is the question about sound quality. My car have the Individual Top HiFI setup and I would really hate to loose out on the sound quality just to be able to get some new snappier icons. So far I have not found anyone who is willing to comment on the quality of the sound. Can you give me an idea on how good or bad it might be? Thx in advance...

Hey mate, easy solution for your KZbin problem. Just search "youtube for tv android apk," allow installation from unknown source. Should work, just tested on my Android phone.

What audio system do you have? My car has the individual audio which is optic and supposedly this doesn’t work with this android device. I even think that the logic 7 system has the same issue.

This is the logic 7 with the fibre optic most bus. They are all compatible with any ccc or cic unit, which has aux in. Which they all do.

You should be able to switch in your factory settings menu. You will need a passcode to access that menu. What brand of unit is yours?

No, I would never try to code with it. It does not have constant power. So if the coding reboots the ccc unit the coding dies.

Unfortunately I don’t run an android phone. But apparently it’s fine. The only thing I’m not 100% on is whether it works wireless with android auto. I do have a phone I used for flashing mhd I might do some testing.

Nothing rock solid. But fcp are confident it’s the right one. I think I’m just going to fit it. Ended up measuring it at the rivet point. Where the layers are all squashed together (how fcp recommend) it’s 1.1 thick there, but the old one is only 0.9. So yeah. Still not 100% sure, but think I’ll just give it a go. It $300 for a genuine one 😒

@@ZeroTo60Tube street car being a panel beater its just another job people look at it and go holy shit your doing what but at the end of the day clean titled 335i msport coupe for under $6500 who could argue with that fully loaded from new 4 inch titanium full exhaust from cobb massive after market intercooler all on the car when i bought it from auction 80000km and interior thats like new a good project me thinks and when this one is finished my e90 320i sedan will get a turbo barra shoved in it because no one has ever done one before glutten for punishment i'm going to call that one
