I installed the old version tonight. Got it from a user on Bimmerpost and it fit pretty well. Pain in the ass to separate the stock downpipe from the mid pipe but yea. I drove around for an hour and no CEL. Still on stock tune till Saturday!

@@JohnsonMotorsports yes look and finish was very good. Fitment was also good, but I had to take the whole cat back exhaust off the hangers to get the exhaust side of the pipe in. So a bit of work, but got there

@@BimmerRalph If I were you I would try the install without messing with the exhaust. When I did the original swap I unbolted the exhaust and it was more of a pain. I think you can do it without messing with the exhaust and if you decide you need to, you can always unbolt it later.

I want to put a downpipe on my car but in my state (NC) we have to do a yearly inspection. From what I'm hearing from multiple people even with a tune the car will still show an error in the O2 sensors and your car won't pass. I don't need that headache

Yeah, I think you would have to swap back to stock down pipe for inspections each year.

Hey Cain I’m also in the (NC) area. F10 2014 tune on MHD stage 2 with a down pipe. I passed inspection with no issues ! No one mentioned anything about my cat less. I’m sure they smelled it but didn’t bother asking about it !

@@XxTrickFlowxX I'm in the Charlotte area where they run the smog test. But I'm going to look into the MHD tune. A lot of tunes will block the CEL but not actually clear the sensor issue because the sensors are still recognizing an error. Supposedly there's tunes out there though to fix that but they're not cheap

The first time I did the install, it took me around 2 hours. I’ve done it so many times now, I’m around an hour.

Just buy the vrsf, i got the rvg and the fitment was terrible i had to heat it up and hammer it so it could fit. Possible defect but id go with vrsf

That’s really weird. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone have fitment issues with the RVG. What was the problem. I’ve had, 3 RVG catless downpipes and now a Highflow Downpipe and the fitment has been perfect on all of them.

I live in Oklahoma. We did away with emissions/annual inspections 20 years ago.

I have the same Downpipe as well, do you think that Downpipe is far enough into the stock midpipe? I had to pull my exhaust a bit in towards the engine to have enough “metal” if you will for it to clamp it nicely.. Only thing I could advise is that the end needs to be an inch longer probably for better fitment into the stock midpipe.. I’ve let RVG know about this as well, catted one is the same exact way..

Actually I haven’t had an issue with mine at all. I pulled mine out of the stock midpipe a little to push my stock exhaust further towards the rear of the car when I was installing my electric cutouts.

Yeah, I only needed to make around a 1/4” clearance. My electric cutouts were touching the differential mounting brace and rattling.

They are working on it. I spoke to him last week about the EWG version and he finally got a stock OEM unit for measurements. Hopefully soon!

I did not replace any gaskets. I've seen on VSRF's website that they show a gasket for the DP to turbo connection, but I didn't even pay attention to if a gasket was there when I replaced the stock unit. I haven't had any issues.

@@w_dub_wilberforcejr I believe both companies offer the 3.5" or 4" versions, I know RVG does. 3.5" is for the PWG models 2011-2014 and 4" is for 2014 and up models.

Absolutely. You will get exhaust smell with catless downpipe. The smell is better with E85, but still there.

Yes, you will have a check engine light until to flash tune the car. I don’t have a check engine light anymore, since I flashed my MHD backend flash.

I don’t know if the downpipe has been tested/dynoed for Hp gains. It will allow you to run a more aggressive tune to increase Hp.
