BMW F800GS FUEL PUMP CHANGE

Does your BMW bike stall out when it's warm and you are below 1/2 tank of fuel? If so the original fuel pump may be the problem. Changing out the pump to solve this issue is not overly complicated, I ordered a Quantum brand fuel pump and got it done! FYI, the fuel pump that I removed was a Bosch.

Well done video..removed any mysteries about the why and how AND the results of changing out the fuel pump, even giving the PN..very helpful! Turns out this solved the stalling issue on my F800GS, I have seen some people recommending the Bosch fuel pump. It turns out it happened to be a Bosch fuel pump that I removed!

Forum searches helped me narrow down my issue to a bad fuel pump in my 2009 F800GS. Your video was spot on and helped me tremendously in determining part numbers and order of operations. Many thanks, Ace!

Was your issue - stalling when releasing the throttle after riding for a while?

@@tonymctony Not exactly. It initially started when the bike didn't want to maintain idle on warmup and would stall. After getting it warm, it would stay running but eventually it would stall out, regardless of throttle position.

On my 2011 it was the fuel pump controller that was goosed. Then the plastic body of the tank cover developed a tiny crack that started leaking fuel as it made it's way up from the tank. JB weld on top and bottom of the area. All good now. I also changed the pump and filter while I was trying to solve the stalling issue.

Probably want to replace your fuel filter at the same time. The OEM fuel filter is a MAHLE KL 315.

How do you remove the strainer? I would have liked to have seen that part because I can't for the life of me see how

TIP: Use silicone spray or brake cleaner on the fuel line, spray inside fuel line, to make it slide right on. Plastic barbed connectors break easy.

A much easier procedure on these bikes is to just remove the barb from the pump lid by removing the two screws. It will then pull off. There are two o-rings that make a seal between the barb and the lid.
