Lovely! I have the k1600gt 2016. Laser exhaust + quickshifter + ECU flash. 180hp beast. I live 1.5 hours from nurburgring track so that will be my day! This vid gave me some good insights on bikes track performance

Haha Yes it was awesome - I managed to pop a couple of wheelies leaving the pits as well as discovering the maximum lean angle before scrapping pegs! I had the suspension settings on Sport as well as 2 up riding with luggage , even though the panniers were off to stiffen things up as much as possible. She's a big heavy bike but she did well on her first informal track day. Continued safe riding to you !

Nice ride....that track must have saved a bundle on paiting some lines 😂...hard to use the full track when your not sure where it starts/ends.

You got that right! It's a great 1 mile race track designed by Keith Code - It's supposed to emulate the typical Southern California Canyon roads.(just without the oncoming traffic) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Code I wish you continued safe riding !

@thebritonabike I'm in Phoenix metro area and have a '23 K1600GT. The bike does shockingly well, but I start scrape pegs around 48 degrees lean. I have done all the rides courses out here...next stop track days. This track is on the list! Thanks for video and info...keep the shinny side up brother.

@@ryanfoley2198 They are amazing machines! Best advice I can give you is for YOU to get off of the side of the bike more as you corner - that will reduce the necessary lean angle required, keeping the bike more upright and reduce the peg scraping. More lean = More risk. You'll actually carry more speed through the corners and have faster lap times. We are limited in lean angle simply by the size and design of these huge sport touring bikes - it is what it is .. because it is ! For extreme lean angles at the track I use my 2016 Yamaha R6. Ride safely !

gheez, Hwy 88 up to Tahoe is smoother then that race track. nice work after clearing traffic

I agree completely - the asphalt is pretty horrible in places with pot holes and cracks everywhere - it's supposed to simulate So.Cal canyon riding so in that respect it's pretty accurate .. LOL ! ... they do groom it but you have to watch for sand and gravel and tumble weeds that the desert seems to produce and throw at you regularly ! I wish you continued safe riding !

On THAT course my GS would prevail. My GTL while it has more power it can't lean as much as my GS does. So watching the whole video, I could still corner faster with the GS (on street tires) before scraping pegs than my GTL. (Full discloser, My GS has been to track day and my GTL has not).

Indeed - I scraped those foot pegs too often experimenting with the maximum lean angle! Continued safe riding to you !

Stop using the clutch! Quick shifter man!

Sadly I am getting a little bit of stiffness and arthritis in my hands (I am only 53 years young but it's a family genetic condition I have inherited) and as a result I have to do regular hand squeezing exercises to alleviate the discomfort - I find using the clutch is an excellent exercise for this and keeps my hands flexible and the muscles in my hand strong. If you don't use it you loose it ! I want to keep riding as long as possible - and not have to buy a DCT bike unless I have to - although I do fancy an Africa Twin one day ! Stay safe out there and continued safe riding to you !

Outstanding riding on the GTL. The bike has agility for its size
