In my experience with BMW N20, the one single most defect is the coolant temperature sensor (aka, coolant fan switch), which is unstable to maintain a narrow range of operating temperature, thus causing an over-heat and the subsequent oil leak and other damages. It happened pretty early in the car's life (about 20 K miles) and a replacement sensor still couldn't solve the irreversible damages. On the other hand, I own a Honda Civic and had driven for 240 K miles with the original switch and not a single drip of oil has been seen!

The music was deafening and was drowning out the lecture. Very difficult to understand the broken English...otherwise there is "Good" information regarding these troublesome engines.

It is a little bit late but if you mean the diverter valve, it is located at the turbocharger which is located at the passenger side of the vehicle

English is obviously not her first language. However, English is my first language and I don't have any major problems understanding her.
