BMW Navigation MKIII Software Update - Key CD

Updating the navigation software on a MKIII computer requires a Key CD. You want the file called " SW 3-1/00 (version 32)" from here: e39source.com/d...

You will need to extract the .ZIP file, and then burn the extracted files to a CD. If you have a MKIII navigation computer, I highly recommend doing this even though you might not need it, depending on your software version.

I downloaded the file that you mentioned in the description. The only problem that I noticed during the burn process was that my cd/ dvd burner doesn't support slower burning speeds than 8x. I will try to burn a cd on a different computer and will post my results here. Thank you for your help and time!

MK4 update is still worth doing. Even though you can put v32 on a Mk3, you wont get perspective mode.

As far as I understood from the video and everything you wrote. I can install this modified V32 software on MK3. It will change my logo, day and night mode, and 3 D.But the software will fit on V23, or V22 on the display will write SW 3-1 / 63 or 1/65.

V32 is MKIV only. The latest for the MKIII is V23, SW 3-1/63.

i downloaded everything correctly and upgraded it but i dont get the M Logo at startup is there a reason why? i tried to download the other file that says M logo on it but it doesnt download at all. can you please help? please and thank you

i have BMW e38 i bought it from japan,,, but the front computer of the navigation system is strange as it has this name "DVD navigation system II", in addition if i go to Set and look on to the top right of the wide screen i can not see any software version,,, i have downloaded the software V32 night mode and burnt it using IMG and when i inserted it in the navigation module nothing happen, could you please explain what is solution for this issue and how to recoganize the software version...... regards

So, instead of trying to burn another cd with the same file, I burned v25 with speed 8x. This time my bmw computer recognized it and updated the software and at the end asked for the key cd. Everything is ok now and my screen looks just like yours, only it has a BMW logo instead of a M logo. It includes 2 color sets, split screen option and everything else. So I wanted to ask about the difference between the file in the description and the v25 ?!

Any reason the download for the MKIII V32 is down? I found it on Neil Oakley’s website, but now I’m worried about this, I just got my MKIII and Nav retrofit to work perfect.

Hello, am I right in thinking there is no point updating to a mk4 unit now? Previously this was the advice if you wanted the perspective view and 7 digit post code search (uk). But now, because you can update to v32 there is no need to buy and install the mk4 unit? Bit confused...

The links do work, but not in some (mobile) browsers. Please try Chrome or Safari on a laptop/desktop computer.

Thanks! I did the upgrade, and after being prompted to put in the key cd, nothing happened and now my screen doesnt turn on. Any way to reset the system, or did I permanently screw something up? Thanks again.

Great video! But something went wrong when i was updating my MK3 computer on my 2001 e39 530d. So I burned the cue file on a entirely new cd - r and put it in the navi cd slot in the trunk. It was recognized but never got to place where it should update, instead the computer showed - The inserted CD is defected and ejected the cd. After this the looks of my computer screen had changed a little but it didn't look like yours. I tried to insert other cd s and still the same. Any advice?

I did the same. The software has been updated, but now I have "Bitte Key-CD oder V17 einlegen." I downloaded the CD-Key from e39source, but the CD-Key does not help, the unit ejects the CD after a while. On the PC there is no content on the disc, as if it was empty. It should be?

I have no experience with the MKIII computer. I recommend upgrading to the MKIV.

I don't know, I don't own an MKIII. This is Todd's video and he used the mode2 form1 copy, which I believe... is the only one that will work.

I have never done it. I think you just select the .cue file and burn that, it will expand the other content onto the disk as well.

I have been using the new software for quite some time now and there have not been any problems. But now it is winter time in my region and I noticed that my original webasto is not working. Can this problem be connected with updating my MK3 software?

You should update your MKIII software any way you look at it, referencing neiloakley.com. And about the other question... what in the world is a webasto?!

That is the latest version available for the MKIII. V32 is MKIV only.

I would upgrade it like the guy did here, and than downgrade it (if you want) but if the installation did not succeed, I don't know if you can use it at all

When it was doing that for me, it was because I burnt the software to a DVD buy accident, instead of a CD! The MKIII can only read CDs.

@@dzlnitro If the burn was done correctly, with the correct firmware, on a CD- and it still doesn't work- I can only surmise that you have a bad CD reader in the navigation computer itself. You'd be best off to replace it with a MKIV form ebay, if that is the case.

Software first, Key CD later if necessary. We don't host much MKIII software, I strongly recommend upgrading to the MKIV computer and going with V32.

+omar k I have never used a MKIII computer before. The link we supply is supposed to be in English or have the option. Some people say it works, some people claim its only in German. I can't test the files myself because I don't have a MKIII.

+Pavel Makevic V32 is for MKIV only. MKIV doesn't need a key CD. MKIII won't read DVDs or V32.

+Pavel Makevic We really don't support the MKIII, they're much harder to deal with. And the updates barely did anything vs what it came with I believe. I highly, highly, highly recommend upgrading to a MKIV.
