5:09 rough idle; sounds like there's an issue with one of the injectors. Very cool build.

It was discovered after this was recorded that an injector was misfiring, good spot!

Got a 88 RRC with no engine more than likely gonna put a old rover v8 in it but I have fantasized about putting in a m70 v12 or a AJ v8 from a xj or xjr but I don’t have the funds for that type of build 😂

Nothing like a V8 for sound but the M57 will produce more torque and get double the fuel economy, and they don’t sound bad either

M57 engine attached to which gearbox?

Gearbox is the factory fitted Defender gearbox, gear ratios feel a bit odd coupled to the M57 but it works well enough

Would it be a bad idea to use the bmw auto box im starting a very similar project next year also with 35" tyres Unfortunately I can't find adapter

Well I used the m57 engine but I had to get a adapter plate to fit m57n for the zf8hp70 gearbox because its the only gearbox I can find that you can buy a transmission controller/ turbo lamik It's still a ongoing project tbh

Uses the throttle module from the M57 engine, much easier than trying to integrate the Land Rover one

Is that the engine they are putting in the Grenadier?

It's the predecessor, the Grenadier is supposed to use the B57 3.0 turbo diesel, produced from 2015 onwards

It seems pretty similar in terms of setup, but with an updated variable geometry turbo and as you say an alloy block, but I don't know a great deal about the B57 in truth

Wirings a bloody mess, so is the attention to paint and trim fit. Things missing too sounds like a poor injector.
