In this episode, we'll take a detailed look at how I've been using Cerakote to restore some of the painted parts on my classic BMW motorcycle.

I'd never heard of cerakote until I started watching your videos, but I have to say your results look excellent. Well done.

The fins look awesome. Great sanding job. As for the cost, life is cheap here in the USA and so is cerakote.

Cerakote is great stuff. A practical upgrade to the original. Never found anodisng to be that durable and cerakote will not block threads etc.

it'd be interesting if you took it to some 'show' or members-meeting and see what they think - not that what other think means anything anyway - it's not a museum piece.

It might raise a few eyebrows amongst the purists. 😂

Hello Sir ! An Unrelated Question It's about your Interceptor 650 Unfortunately the colour you have ( in your Interceptor ) is not available in India, so is this colour combination (red & balck) custom made by you or is it available in England only ? The closest colour combo like this in Indian version of Interceptor 650 is the "Sunset Strip" Looking forward for your reply Thank you

You are a perfectionist and your bike will look amazing and ride better than new. The challenge will be using it without worrying about spoiling the finish…..!!

Loving the engine casings and the rocker covers, they look sublime! Not sure how you are along with the rebuild, a tip worth considering is to put some old carpet down in the area you are working, under and either side of the bike if poss, drop anything on the floor when you are working and the carpet will protect it and stop any damage to surface finishes, may seem O.T.T but it can save a lot of hassle and potential damage! Best of luck. Cheers.

That is a very good idea. I was planning on getting one of those motorcycle workshop mats.

What sort of price should I expect to pay for Cerakoting my R80 engine and gearbox?
@WildlifeMoto Жыл бұрын
Probably around £400 just for the coating work on the prepped cases. However, you'll need to factor in stripping down the engine, media blasting and re-building. If you outsource you'd likely be looking at around £3,500 to £4,000 assuming there is nothing major wrong inside the engine or box.

Really impressed with the look of the Cerakote on these casings/covers, I especially like the way it contrasts with the exposed/polished aluminium on the finning. May I ask why you chose not to do the same on the very outer two fins of the valve covers please? Looking forward so much to this bike taking shape. Great job as always Mr WM.

Hello sir. Hope you are doing well? Great question regarding the horizontal fins. I did consider doing it but they are quite thin with a tight radius. I was worried that hand sanding this might area might be hard to get a perfectly consistent exposed line across the piece. I’ve seen someone’s attempt where it didn’t go well. So basically I chickened out 😂

@@WildlifeMoto I'm very well thanks Mr WM, hope you are too? Ahh I see! Well I'm sure that if you took your time to do it slowly and methodically I'm confident you'd make a really great job of it. Please don't let somebody else's lack of skill influence/impact on what you may wish to achieve.......as everything I've seen you turn your hand to on this channel has been faultless......so if you you'd like them to be silver, I'd say 'Go for it'!!

Looking great! Will you clear urethane coat the exposed aluminium edges? Your salty roads will have them for breakfast 😉
