One of the best👍👍👍 A big challenge. This is a job for very experienced DIY men. Need bearing pullers of three different types... According to what you explained, maybe it would have been possible to adjust the preload( in the bearing of the cardan("Gimbal"), maybe the adjust nut came loose, and it would have been enough to tighten the axis in place? I am waiting for the continuation of your series.
