Graeme Armstead I have a ‘17, which I have had for 2.5 years and covered 35,000km. Couple of minor warranty issues (water pump) and had to put the slightly longer cam chain thing on to quieter the top end down, but very reliable. Great bike. These newer hypernakeds, however, are on another level

Fun fact for you. The k5 gsxr 1000 engine was that good that BMW actually developed their s1000 engine using the exact same tech , the same bore and stroke etc. Look it up, its very interesting. The k5 1000 engine was way ahead of its time and one of the best 1k super sport engines ever produced.

In my opinion for inlinefour this bike have loads of character and sound very good . The only think superduke is better with is the more powerfull engine . In the past I've had many bikes with character like rsv and 990 superduke but with character comes loads of problems as well and after a while you are just tired and wont something which works all the time .

Good video. I sold my Fireblade 954 last year and will be ready for another bike after Christmas but which one to buy is really hard! I'm 48 and want to do a lot of touring and would really like to stick to the Fireblade however now BMW have come out with all the creature comforts I want this upcoming Blade in 2017 to match them. Cruise control, heated grips, quick shift, auto blipper, rider safety features all sound sublime for touring. But will Honda put them all on the new Fireblade for 2017? It's a big ask! Small and light with a fairing is my default touring preference the other thing that I feel manufacturers could give us is better comfort handlebars on sports bikes! I'm mean imagine having adjustable bars designed to go from race position to touring position as a standard component!

Awesome bike. Great review! Sad to hear that pegs are too high for you. With an extra 2 inches (waheeey!) I've got no hope. Still quite fancy a go on the XR though, might be different? BTW I was feeling all proud of my upcoming test ride vids and you've done this and made me look silly! And that helicopter mount! Awesome! I didn't realise what was going on at first!! Cheers bludd!

+Andy Man Cam haha thanks Andy, yeah I also found the pegs high on the RR.. I think it could be easily sorted with some rearsets tbh.. XR want to test that also, never tried a full on adventure bike so quite fancy a go on that to :) Also want to try the NineT which they have a demo of there, something very different, fancy building my on cafe racer tbh would be a cool project!

Haha brilliant I've got a Gen1 2015 with a full Arrow Competition Evo half titanium so many wee mods with a woolich tune and then a touch of custom on it. 194.5bhp at the engine 169whp and is mental even the exhaust and the bangs equal the RR easily. Has 87ftlb at the wheel so around 100ftlb at the engine. Things insane only thing I'd love is a blipper but apart from that the bike does everything.

Really considering a 17/18 s1000r or the 18 speed triple rs , lamb chop you ridden the new triumph? Mainly road use would like nice early torque but smooth delivery so power can be used.

Good review. Interesting to hear your thoughts. Very surprised you preferred the GSX-S1000! as most people go straight for the power figures. I test rode one myself back in april (read the reviews and had one all set up to buy) and for some reason for the first time in 25+ years of biking went for a test drive on one. I didn't get one in the end for lots of different reasons and went for a z1000 which im more than happy with. However the one thing I loved about it was the QS which ive added to mine.

+Lamb Chop Rides Well, I did go to Loomies earlier on this year on an RSV4 meet (never been there before or heard of it) and if im mistaken your close by. The ride from Bristol (where I am) was brilliant, so, ill definitely be going next year. If im there and you are youre more than welcome to a go...although mines been quite extensively modded now...!Just out of curiosity did the s1000r make your back ache....I got quite bad back ache (middle of the shoulders) after about 20 mins or so...maybe just me though as the z is uber comfortable...
@LambChopRides9 жыл бұрын
Very kind of you buddy may take you up on that :) no didn't have any back ache problems seemed OK, the reach was more forward than the GSXS mind..

Good review, how did you like the riding position compared to other naked bikes? I found it more sportier (more lean forward) compared to other naked bikes.

Found the pegs a bit high, but found the same on the RR apart from that was fine.. Not quite as comfy as GSXS however but easy comfy enough for a full days riding
@Peskarik7 жыл бұрын
I rode S1000R several times. Once you get past the strong engine you start noticing other things. Like the electronic suspension, once I had to brake really hard downhill and the front did not dive at all, that was a revelation! It's also weird how it always pops from the exhaust on throttle off, always the same twin pops, obviously they are pre-programmed by BMW, exciting first couple of times then you forget them, my Daytona 675 pops as well, but those are natural pops, much more exciting. It's a really fast bike, but it steers very slow in corners, which can catch you out if you come from a quicker steering bike. I much preferred Ducati Monster 1200R to S1000R, Ducati is really good and does not understeer. I've tried several versions of Triumph Speed Triple, I generally like Triumph (have Daytona myself, tried versions of Street Triple, Speed Triple, Thruxton R, Bonneville). Yes, the latest Speed Triple S I tried is not as mental as S1000R, but it is more, say, aristocratic, it looks more posh, and feels more substantial, more "manly" kind of, it's more of a relaxed hooligan while BMW feels like a cold-blooded tool.

i had a GSXS new 2018. So i can only compare that year. Suzuki claimed 150bhp although no one ever saw it. 133bhp was my best dyno. It was absolutely crap fueling until I put aftermarket low 4 rails on it. It was never a problem at wot hence just the low 4 rails. Also the suspension was crap no matter what i did. Really the only upside was the new price 9100 pound. Yet i spent way more on modding including massive weight fixes. I know this is years old but id be mad to take a gixess over s10000r.
@Parakitedude4 жыл бұрын
@Lambchop, you have to make a comparasion video with the streetfighters you have tested over the years. It would be nice to hear your opinion on what you think is the best bike of s1000r, h2, z1000, gsxs1000, mt10, tuono and the Ducati? Best price/fun ration etc.

Ah man I LOVE your approach to editing and shot choice, another great video. That gimble shot on the roundabout is phenominal, I'm not as up on other motovloggers as I used to be but that type of shot hasn't really been done much before I think, ground breaking? Particularly love the opening shots and the music, very much what I attempted to do with my bike reveal video but then I went and ruined it with my stupid dancing. Mainly because I cannot hold a camera steady for the life of me, Michael J. Fox would do a better job!

Haha cheers matey :) yeah no else has done the helicopter mount don't think... Went out Sunday gone to do some supermoto stuff with it but got rained off so never got to play with it. I have a R and a mate has the RR. On a few rides (on closed roads of course) and a few track days, the R is a bit quicker to about 160kph and the RR’s more manic and magnificent top end and aero give it the edge thereafter. Buffering at an indicated 252 Kph is brutal, for me, on the R.
