A very helpful video had the same issue with my bmw 320d e90 took it to every local garages no one finds out what is the exact issue is then i Started searching on KZbin and saw this video and fixed my car by myself just to order a ABS sensor which is cost my 25 quid. Just wanna say - my garage charged me £1200 for work that didn't fix this issue, then kept it in for another 10 days and couldn't fix it at which point I gave up and picked it up. Then found this video and fixed it myself for free in 25 mins. Fucksake I wish I never took it to them. What a waste of money. And thanks so much for this!!!!

@@voiceofutube I honestly couldn’t tell you. At first they said they needed to remap it because that should fix it, but then it obviously didn’t so they just kept doing shit that meant nothing. Thankfully I took it off them at that point because they said they were getting a specialist in from BMW and quoted me another stupid number. Funnily enough I drove past the place a couple weeks ago and it’s closed…. 😁

This literally happened to me about 10 hours ago. We planned a day trip out set off and so we got the dtc flashing us and slowing us down. We immediately did a google and your video came up. Had the dtc off all day and we are home safe. Thank you so much for the upload,we had a great day out and know how to at least temporarily fix our beloved BMW.

When I got my used 2008 X3 It had all three of these lights on. I found out that it was the transfer case actuator motor that had failed. It is a module attached to the side of the transfer case. There is a black plastic gear inside it that will be worn to failure after so many miles. I bought a TCA rebuild kit off of FCP Euro's website for about 100 dollars and rebuilt it. All of my lights, including the check engine light went away. FCP Euro has a very detailed how-to video on how to rebuild the TCA.

Guys make sure you check your sensor if you decide to buy a new one!! They are to type of sensors(for cars with active steering wheel/without active steering wheel) I have this problem since last year and I been to 4-5 garages to check my car and everyone tell me a different think…when you put the tester was showing I have a fault with my front left abs sensor,they put a new one and after they said maybe the wheel bearing not making proper contact with the sensor after that they said my battery it’s nearly dead and creating problems to the sensors🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️I decide to give up after I have a new sensor,new battery and new wheal bearing…yesterday I decide to buy a new sensor and change my self and all the problems gone!! My car don’t have active steering wheel and all this time I was driving with a new sensor for active steering wheel!!

just a random story about my e93 (2011 328i convertible) randomly had abs/ traction/ brake/ and check engine light were on. scan tool said p1775, p15c9 and p1505. INPA says 4 codes that all relate to rear right wheel abs/speed sensor is the issue. Live INPA data shows all wheels other than right rear are steady when driving and the right rear is "jumping" or being "jittery". took oem sensor from left side, put it in right side, and put brand new one in left side. clear codes, did 5 power cycles and drove 50 miles at all speeds. so far so good.

Worked just as well in my BMW x3 f25 with the same error message. I had a lot of dirt on the rear right ABS sensor and on the inner tread. Bought it a week ago and this has been problem ever since. They replaced a tire that was apperently a different size and didn’t fix it. Now they are keeping it in the shop and replacing a transfer gear box or something (my dad couldn’t remember what they said). But everything on the internet says it’s the wheel speed sensor but the shop hasn’t said anything abt that…

I did this to my 320d today, on both rear wheels, drove about 10 yards down the road and all of my lights came on 😩 abs,seat belt,airbag,tyre pressure,handbrake,traction, so not sure what happened there? Il have to remove the washers tmw and hopefully it will go back to normal 🤣

Excellent video thank you. Mine is a 118 m sport convertible, started last week from start up and gradually got worse, almost like in limp mode! Then warning light will stop flashing eventually, abs, dtc lights stay on, but power restored!? Does that sound like the same issue? Any advice would be much appreciated tia

Most probably yes. If DTC off stops the abs from flashing (the warning lights will remain) then potentially this issue. Easy enough to give a go to check.

Temporary fix. Complete fix would be new drive shaft or taking the old one and refurbishing with road removal and new reluctant ring

Thanks for your videos they are great, my question is my 4x4 light comes on as soon as i start the car without driving and if i start to drive then abs and brake light come on. I changed then actuator gear already the old one was a little worn and the clicking has stopped when i turn car off but now 4x4 dsc light comes on immiediately. I thinks its dsc control unit since i dont have to drive for 4x4 dsc to light up right away?

As you can probably tell that replacing the sensor has the opposite effect (it will make it more sensitive) because it is now not compensating for the corrosion / swelling of the ring.

Hello, I think I have a problem with the abs modules, no errors or lights come on, the symptom is and when I turn on the windshield above 120kmh it stops, losing around 20kmh, could it really be the abs module? Sorry I don't remember that one. But it doesn't matter if the whole is too large, using it as a spacer. You can stick a piece of plastic if you want to to maintain a gap (probably a better idea since it's non magnetic)

If the gap is too large the system will fault out anyway. But if it works, it shouldn't effect the traction in any significant way..mine still kicked in if you do some fast cornering or accelerate too hard

Make sure the gap created by the washer isn't too large or the speedometer will stop working. Use a thin washer.

Hello, great video. 750Li no speed on left rear, change wheel speed sensor and got a speed. When I drive it for a ways, the ABS light comes on. Today when it was off, I pulled over to talk to someone and while sitting there ABS lights came on at a stand still. Any thoughts?

John Gordon whenn the light comes on does it stay on? It could be that if it is touching the ring, the sensor picks up spurious readings, giving the warning message. Alternatively, if it's too far back, the metal housing interferes with the reading. Note that this is magnetic so any metallic bit will tamper with it.

Super helpful video. thanks mate. I have an 07 335i coupe. started to hear a grinding noise two days ago. Today the yellow ABS light came on, then driving back from work , it started to loose power. I tried holding down the DTC button, but wasnt sure if it was on, it did not indicate. But i managed to drive home. I thought it was a problem with the brake rotors or pads, but upon looking at them, they looked good. I do have the red brake light constantly on, i think i might need to replace that too. I will try and put the washer like you did. and hopefully i can get it to work good. Are wheel speed sensors expensive, is cleaning the ring hard to do?

Gordon Harrison sensors are relatively cheap and the ring is easy to clean can do it without any specialist tools. I would recommend a diagnostic

Sorry, I thought I did. In my case it was whenever i turned left it would fault out. In theory turning left means right tyre is seeing a greater deviation of speed compared to the other tyres, hence the fault.

Ive not seen ANY videos of repair to the front sensors. Do they even exist or is the problem always on the rear? I don’t have a diagnostic device like you and would like to limit searching for my problem to just the two if possible. Although mine is slightly different to yours. I only get it happening in the wet and traction control kicks in massively even when straight with pretty much total loss of power, then after a while I’ll sometimes get the main ABS light with the traction light and the car regains power (I think this may be the car disengaging the DTC like when you held down the button) thanks for the video, my usual garage wont touch it as they said it sounded electrical and to seek out an auto Electriction instead - so I’m on my own on this one for now!

Sounds like a major one gear stuck is probably why the lights are on in the first place..... Transmission lights? Nothing that you'll be able to solve with home tools...

@@laymandiy Hi Layman, hope you can help. Similar to the OP, my BMW 120D will lose power with the DTC warning light flashing. The car then regains power after a few seconds, but with the ABS, handbrake and DTC fault lights all remaining on. This will only happen in wet conditions, and the lights will disappear once the car has dried out. Any ideas?

Those lights stay on would probably mean a faulty sensor. Will need a diagnostic to be sure

krum zlatanov difficult, the cable costs £15 if you wanted to diagnose. However, if it links in round corners more, left turn would indicate a right sided issue and vice versa. I'd be looking at the rears first seeing if the sensors are scored. Of course if you can get underneath the car safely, it's all visible and you can see which side is corroded most.

Let see what they will say. Hopefully it won't be the abs pump. Forgot to mention that the low pressure light come on after dsc light start flashing and have to stop and reset it despite I haven't got flat tyre. Thanks a gain mate

Hi I really enjoy your videos, I am hoping you can help me I recently just bought a 2007 BMW 740l, in the last few days the display is showing Drive Control System! Drive moderately, the car is driving perfect no loss of power or steering, I called into a BMW specialist and he said it will need 3 hours on a dialysis scanner and it could be the automatic transmission, the car seems to be shifting through the gears ok, the logo light stays on and the drive control system, drive moderately goes out once the car is engaged in any gear. .

Helpful video. The issue I've been havingj just recently is that the ABS triangle light comes on when I start the car in the morning, stays on about 20 seconds and then disappears. It doesn't come on later and in no way seems to affect the BMW's driving performance. Then today the light did NOT come on. I have a tentative appointment with the local BMW service dept. tomorrow but would most likely bring it in IF it acts up again(it's because the service tech might not know what to diagnose unless the light appears). But should I still have this checked out?

If it goes away completely pressing the DTC button then chances are it is the same issue as this. If not there could be other issues.

Difficult to determine, too many variables.. chances are both will probably need doing.. but depending on when the fault occurs left turn or right turn, it most probably will be the opposite side to that so in my case it was left turns causing an issue and it was the right rear wheel sensor

Does opposite hand to the steering, usually. So steering left would be rear right sensor

You're in the early stages then. The only other way is to jack the car up and see which reluctor ring looks worse. You do not need to remove anything for this.
