Pro Tip! If you tap the wires into the black connector and not the pink/red connector then the larger prongs will fit without the smaller prongs.

You are the man! Just used your video to hardwire my Escort Redline 360c and M2 dash camera into my 2019 BMW X3 M40i. The mirror plastic covering is different, but the wiring harness had the exact same pin out. Radar detector and dash camera powered on immediately. Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻

I wish you showed a close up of where the tap wires come out. I figured the mirror assembly is nearly airtight so theres no room for the wires to stick out

I have them coming out through the top near the headliner. It’s not air tight but definitely room to pass the wires

@@eddiemcars Im gonna attempt this in a day or two. wish me luck. I hope I dont damage the plastic mirror assembly... does it really just pop out easily if you use a trim tool to apply horizontal force directly to the center seam?

I am having a hell of a time just getting the damn pins to make contact. Im definitely putting them in the right slots, but when I try with the actual USB converter prongs its just somehow not making contact... i wish there was some kind of 'metal glue' I could coat it with so Im guaranteed contact.

NM, I got it working today. The USB adapter I got had prongs but they were too short so they couldnt make contact and kept falling out. I jimmy rigged some needles onto the leads and got a good contact and everything worked as expected

If you can’t squeeze the tab and pull I would try to use needle nose pliers. GENTLY squeeze and pull slightly. It can fracture so please be careful if you have to use this method.

Off topic a bit but I am considering a pair of Garmin Mini 2 cams for my "new to me" 2018 X5 to use as front and rear cams. I am curious as to what you used for the wiring and adapting in order to use the mirror power? Great videos! Totally enjoyed your detailed videos of the X5 in deciding which one to purchase! :)

Quick question. One of my led angel eyes is not working correctly, it's dimmed. I replaced it and that didn't change the outcome. Have you ever experienced that? If so, what did you do to correct that issue? Do I need to code it? Is it just plug and play? I replaced it with OEM. At one point the DRL aspect just stop working.. After a long drive to Virginia Beach, VA. I don't know what else to do.. I did get a low voltage code. That's when I reset the module and then initialize the "Taught-in" process is IST A +.

If you replaced it and it still not working I would definitely look into Bimmercode Body domain controller module and take a look. Try to bring the brightness up when parking/headlights are on. Please report back

@@eddiemcars Hi Edward! Thanks for your response. I tried coding it to 90% just to see if it would make any difference. The other rings got brighter, while that inner ring remain dimmed. At this point, I starting to suspect the actual Headlight control module (P.#63 11 7 409 625) . Because I'm also noticing that my TMS stop working too. And I think that module also controls the TMS too. It is so weird. Because it's just that inner angel eye that's dimmed. Let me know if there is anything else that I can try.. I didn't find anything on the forums either.. Not even a write on how to replace it. I had to figure it out on my own. The one I replaced had water residue on the circuit board.

Has this been staying securely for you using suction cups. I have a blend Mount on my f30 and not sure if I should get one for the f15

Not the factory suction cup but I bought these 3rd party suction cups with 3 cups. It works better, no vibration. I like the blend Mount but I also mount my detector high up on the windshield for better range.

Usually about 15 minutes when the car falls asleep.

It won’t right away. My turns off when the car goes to sleep. Usually in about 10 minutes. Soon as I you open the door or unlock the car it will turn back on.

If there’s a mirror tap available for DC in for dash camera I can’t see why not. The one I used is for the RJ11 connector.
