Thanks Juliette! I really like my Z4. I used to ride motorcycles, and the Z4 gives me the same feeling of traction, cornering, and acceleration, with the advantage of a cage and 4 tires! (safer for me) Plus the styling is just cool!

I’ve been the second owner of my 2004 Silverstone S 2000 with OEM hardtop since 2012 and ABSOLUTELY LOVE it and will never part ways with it. Extremely reliable and a lot of fun to drive each and every time I slide behind the wheel! Just a Great, Great car!!

Great review, simple. The Z4 is a platform that has much less aftermarket support. There are a lot of SPEC E46 parts that carry over but that takes a bit more digging for the platform and power doesn't come cheap or easy. Definitely jealous of the S2K chassis.

Fantastic comparison. I owned both. E85 Z4 is a complete roadster, an all rounder. Pound for pound, the only rival to the S2K. The S2K is just a more visceral machine but the insane internet fame has made its price skyrocket. Which leaves the E85 Z4 the better more value for money buy imo. And its the first generation E85 Z4 model which truly fits the roadster definition in the entire 3 generations of Z4 models. And it has aged so well and looks stunning like the S2k even today.

100%. I absolutely love my Z4! Overall my preference. But as a track car solely the S2k does take the win, aftermarket base and more potential with the chassis. Z4 E85 is definitely a timeless car. It has not remotely aged in looks.

@@grecopaok more what ? Time?? I’m not sure I completely agree with that though if you mean time. I’ve seen a lot of S2000s lose motors too. I think yes Honda is known for a reliable car the z4 is actually pretty reliable as well. I mean this is a bigger motor making similar power so it’s not demanding too much in comparison to a 4 banger making that power. Also I think maintenance and services play a big part in longevity! Just my opinion tho! :D

@@JulietteHallie I completely agree maintenance and how the owner takes care of their car. Don’t get me wrong BMW Z4 is a sick car, one of my buddies used to have one back in the day. However BMW is not known for their reliability especially the new ones with the turbo engines you will need a warranty for those ones, but the z4 since it has a v6 na it will last more than the new ones. Honda is known for their reliability and the s2000 with the 9k rpm redline which screams with an exhaust on, something you don’t find in today’s cars anymore with their silent turbos, this explains why the s2000 is blowing up in value on the car market. Both cars are legendary tho.

@@grecopaok hmm N series motors yes. b series has been very reliable! I worked for them for years in service and didn’t see much of the new BMWs. I have a B48 with almost 65k miles and about 20k at least are track miles. Motor hasn’t needed anything besides spark plugs! Obviously tho more technology and plastic can lead to problems but unfortunately that’s all manufacturing across the board. Nothings as good as the old cars. Back when things were simpler!

Cross shopped both of these and bought a z4 3.0i. It was simply a better daily and the engine was a lot more fun to daily drive…it feels every bit as fast as the s2k. If I had to do it again I would buy a Boxster S.

I completely agree. Z4 is a much better daily. I wouldn’t do a boxster simply cause wrenching on one would be much harder than a Z4 due to engine placement.

Servicing wise i found bmw is much simpler than honda. Price wise on parts if you have connections or know where to look. The bmw parts for me ended up cheaper than honda parts such as pads and spark plugs. I have owned both and knowing both worlds is really helpful.

Couldn’t agree more! S2000 parts only work on s2000 so the prices are insane. Whereas most bmws share an engine with another BMW.

Great video. The pre facelift 3.0i is actually quicker. I have only 75k miles but the typical sticky steering.. same milage a z4 will cost half as much as s2k.

This is very interesting, currently own an S2K but looking for something else now, Z4s have been cropping up, however having just pulled apart a Mini with a melted rocker cover I do worry about plastic engine parts.

I wouldn't consider any Bmw over S2000. First is reliability. They just can't compare. Price for parts. Other reason i would choose Honda vs most cars ever built is cornering speed. There are much faster cars in straight lines, some have much better brakes. But cornering speed and balance is everything for true drivers. For regular drivers cars like S2000 doesn't mean much. Just like those people and their cars don't count for me :)

I have a 2003 S2000 with about 104K miles on the OD - I bought it new - and I'm already treating it like my beloved grandmother. I apologize to all the people who choose to pull up behind me at a stoplight rather than behind the Dodge van driven by an elderly couple to my left in the faster lane. My S2000 has been a fun car. It's got to last.

I actually personally have had much more reliability on track out of my BMW. S2000 has had multiple differentials, 2 engines and 2 transmissions. BMW is stock and has needed spark plugs and a valve cover gasket.
