Jim we all know you a perfectionist. That much is obvious through your work but honestly don't stress so much if the content is deemed good enough. 95% of us subscribers would probably watch a 45 minute video of you cleaning your number plate screws as long as we get to see your vlogs pal! I've been itching for this one! I have just bought a silver E46 320D touring and detailed it over the last week because of your vids. I'm certainly no Jim White and silver is pretty forgiving but my 15 year old car is now gleaming and full of life one more time. Only thing I'm struggling on is the glass as the previous owner had one of those baby shade things suckered to the rear window for half a decade and nothing seems to remove the circles I see when it fogs up!

I think the previous Z4 video proved so popular because 1st it's a great looking car, 2nd you showed the kind of cleaning us amateurs can aspire too and finally it was during Christmas so most people are sat around doing nothing. Always good content from you man.

About headlights-i did restore mine over Christmas having done tons of research so I’ll be happy to share in case it might become usefull. Depending on how deep the chips and scratches are you need to sand them with paper, 800 -1500-2000 should do the job, then it is crucial to put uv protection - best is to paint them, I used motip colormatic high gloss 2k clear coat ( spray can with hardener activator). It fills sanding marks and the two layers make plastic shiny and transparent again-works like magic, it’s hard to mess anything up with this paint since it is so easy to use and control the result, lights look like brand new. If you’re intersted search for tutorials on this spray to see what I mean. Btw, I am not affiliated , any 2k high gloss clear coat should work, just wanted to let you know a proven solution.

@deluxevehicledetailingandp904

I just bought an ERAY paint thickness gauge meter, so I was just sort of testing it out. Took about 100 readings all in um ( microns ) In general ( from memory ) Hood-65-95, Fr Fenders-150-200, Doors-45-75, Jambs-10-20, Quarters-60-80, Trunk-40-55. Overall I thought the paint would be thicker and I feel it's too thick on the front fenders. I've owned the car for one year. It's a single owner, who has a collection of amazing cars, he's an retired race car driver and the dealership ( not where I bought it ) told me that they knew the full history ( gave me the computer records, minus owners name ) and told me I made a great buy and had nothing to worry about. My pre sale inspection by a BMW specialist,done on a lift, saw nothing and we were searching for damage. If I were using the reading and looking to buy this car, I'd throw a red flag at the thick readings on the fenders. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Jim don’t worry about what’s in the video or treat them as a video you would want to see. People like seeing you cleaning cars, the process and why you do it. There is a painting guy called the gunman on KZbin and some of his top viewed videos are the basic tutorial. He even has a channel that only shows unedited raw videos called gun man raw. Do a video asking your audience what they want and you will be surprised what basic things are requested. Don’t try and reinvent the wheel, you make your channel not the content. Just because somethings been covered before by someone else put your spin on it.
