Paint polishing is usually split in two steps: compound and polish. Paint polishing is a car detailing technique used to remove defects in the paint through paint correction. By removing a thin layer of clear coat, you’ll remove scratches, swirls marks, marring and oxidation, get better clarity from your paint, make the color of the paint “pop” and make it more glossy and shiny. By levelling the clear coat through paint polishing, you’re allowing light to bounce off better thus increasing the gloss levels.

Thank you for a great beginner tutorial Pan! I’m late to this party, but thought this summary might help some folks: 1. Ensure car is cool to the touch & removed from direct sunlight 2. Tape off trim & badging 3. Inspect paint condition using LED light 4. Prime pad 5. Apply pea-sized drops of polish (~1 per inch of pad) 6. With machine off, dab pad in small 2’x2’ section to distribute polish 7. Holding flat to paint, use lowest speed to spread polish in section 8. Increase speed to med./high 9. Keeping pad flat & moving, polish using low pressure & slow arm movements 10. Make 3-4 passes overlapping ~50%, left to right then top to bottom 11. Turn off machine while flat to paint. Remove polish w/ clean, dry microfiber towel 12. Wipe section w/ microfiber towel & IPA. Inspect using LED light 13. Frequently clean pad w/ compressed air or brush 14. When complete, car is ready for application of paint protection

@Jack Shaheen “waste money” lmao that’s like saying buying a “991” is a waste of money you could’ve bought a really cheap car that does the same thing gets you to from A to B, how is it a waste of money to buy detailing products for his business when he makes money from his business that’ll pay back what he paid on all his detailing products and he’ll even make a lot more money because he has the knowledge and detailing products/equipment. Also out of billions of people not everyone is like you who doesn’t give a shit about their car, they worked hard for their car so why not make it look beautiful instead of having your nice black car in the sun and it looks all scratchy and shitty. You can have your opinion as well as I have mine but you sound retarted.

I grew up in Body Shops/Collision Centers. Years ago we spray Lacquer which needed to be polished once dry. Needless to say it’s hard work, especially on the back. I have to say, your knowledge of polishing is impressive. The tools and Polishes/Compounds are much better these days, swirl marks were a nightmare back in the day. These days the products make it much better. Anyway, just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos. I trust what you say, and that even surprises me. @@PanTheOrganizer at first I saw one of you videos searching thru detailing videos on KZbin, mainly chemical guy vids. But I talked to a high end detailing shop locally and the owner said to start following you and obsessed garage. I'm looking to start a high end detailing shop. I currently have a carpet cleaning business and would like to transition to high end paint corrections and ceramic coatings. I used to have a small detailing business when I was a teenager, but I never used a polisher before. I used to get great results using hand applied products from Pennical and Zymol. I see the industry has advanced a lot since I was detailing last. Are there any schools that teach professional detailing and ceramic coating that you recommend?

From an old-school detailer I found your presentation very informative. So much has changed in terms of products over the years! It was far more simple back then in the 80's and I often had to mix up my own finishes and compounds to achieve the results but I got the job done and was always busy! Case in point, the pad cleaning brush to remove product after each use of my wool pad for me was a screwdriver I ran from the center to the edge on my Milwaukee buffer, and it worked! I am glad I found you Pan, you are clear, concise and informative! I will continue to watch and learn from your YT library. I restarted my business here in Los Angeles(Cariffic Auto Appearance Systems) and hope to apply my old-school knowledge with all this new technology!

Great video❗👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 So, how do you address how bad scratches/areas are to know what to use to get them out? As not to take off too much clear coat or effect paint with a compound to remove scratches/scuff marks? If scratches are a little deep, and they have been removed for the most part once buffed out. At the end of all these steps/processes, what is the best way to substitute a new (so to speak) clear coat and then protect the paint, and minimize future scratches and protect? My Harley fuel tank tends to get scuffs/scratches from getting off and on. How do I do these steps on a major budget? Money in the year 2020 is a little tight these days. Please send video links to help us, thank you.

@@PanTheOrganizer if it’s the most bang for your buck video I will choose your year-end award winners every time. Detailing cars with something I love to do even growing up as a kid. At this point in my life just; turned 50 a month ago I decided to use it as a side job to supplement my income during Covid. I needed all of the specialized how to videos to teach me the techniques so that I could produce a professional result. Wheels, interior, etc. my products needed to mostly be available locally and “today” so I had to pick and choose between the different companies I have in Northern California. Year end awards videos helped me do just that - build my arsenal out of each company’s best or almost best products. In fact, just this morning I took advantage of 22% off at Adams Polishes to buy Tire Armor. On there website I got to reference you specifically as how I heard about their products.

I would now love to see you take us through a real life situation on how you access a cars paint and why and how you would use your process to determine what Compound/Polish/Pad combinations you would use in each case. This might be the million dollar question that some have due to all the different choices out there. Really went back and forth between this and a FLEX 3401. Decided to go FLEX because of the direct-drive, and ability to change pads, and use other backing plates. I've seen too many videos of those who bought RUPES and was limited to certain pads and compounds to get the best results. I may decide to get a smaller Rupes though .

Great as always, any recommendations regarding polishes for dark BMW colors, preparing particular car for ceramic coating and it has very minimal swirls and scratches, I didn’t experiment yet but I think polishing only will do the trick. Thx.

Absolutely loving your videos, I've watched this one a few times now. You have inspired me to take my passion for cleaning my cars and start my own small mobile detailing business. I need alot more practical experience but am learning all the knowledge from your videos, keep it up! Quick question, I'm trying out menzerna compounds first and my local supplier told me that if I use a paint protection like menzerna's power lock I don't need to do an IPA wipedown because I'm using menzerna's compound and polishes. Is this true or should I always do some form of wax and grease remover or IPA washdown? He also told me my foam pads don't need conditioning, I think I'll take your advice over his though... Thanks again!

What do you recommend for the parts of cars such as the front and back with a lot of different contours and hard to reach places with a 5-6 inch DA polisher? Thanks Pan!!

Great question Erik! I have never used a DA polisher, but after watching Pans tutorial I'm willing to give it a go...on my wife's vehicle 😂....Seriously though, I would definitely like to know how to approach these areas. A smaller diameter polisher Pan?
