You can see in these comments what BOC means to them. To me the band provides solice in a disturbed world. I can't believe they have provided such beautiful music that feels like perfection. It's no surprise that us die hard fans long for just one more album, however like the tragic melancholy of BOC, we will probably not see this beauty from them again.

With their music using a lot of number stations as samples, and tomorrows harvest referencing them in their promotions, boards of canada are a lot like the operators of number stations themselves. Hidden away and very rarely actually sending out a signal. They're absolute enigmas. I hope they're doing alright.

It was 1998,1st year in college, i stumbled upon the video lab at the art school I attended in Oakland, and checked out a digital camera. I asked the weird guy managing the video equipment, wtf are you playing in the back there, it's amazing, where I came from I only listened to gangster rap. He told me its Boards of Canada, 25 years later studied EDM left and right up and down, wave after wave, nothing compares to the OGs of the biz --> BOC.

The better question is how many albums/EPs they still have in them. They are 50 now, and they have considerably slowed in their output, which either tells us that they only make music for the circle of friends, music has stopped being a focus in their life (1-2 albums every decade) or they've grown very perfectionistic.
@strangewarmingsof2 жыл бұрын
@@kidkangaroo5213 it's a matter of what they choose to release to the public. they've probably got tons of private projects left in them but what they choose to give to the public (and a fanbase that intently watches their every move) is a different story

@@kidkangaroo5213 I think they've just grown out of it honestly. Their stuff might just never be fully released, simplest way to put it.
@0rdsec Жыл бұрын
I've grown to be ok with the notion that we may never see any more public releases. I'd rather just have what we have now than a new release that's underwhelming in some way or just too different. Their music is so nostalgic, it embodies nostalgia. It's the sound of memories. It speaks to me of times long gone, and it pretty much comes from those times now that it's 2023, that make sense? TH was released 10 years ago, which is pretty nuts. I really can't imagine what a "new", made in 2023, BoC release might sound like, unless it's stuff they wrote years and decades ago and decided to release. That said, for fuck's sake, PLEASE release more mixes in the vein of the Societas X Tape! Hands down the best mix ever, I'm not using these words loosely, it really is.

Random question: but they call the song XY “Zee”. This sounds normal to me as an American but I always heard people in the UK say “zed”. Is it “zee” in Scotland? Or did they just deliberately use the American version for some reason

It's part of their aesthetic, they have a lot of samples from. Sesame Street and American TV shows etc, voiceovers, it's a kind of psychedelic Americana
