Season 1 Episode 1: "Boardwalk Empire"
"If you like a to eat, you eat. If you don't a like a to eat...HMM?"
Spoiler
The hilarious dinner scene with the bosses from Chicago, New York, and Atlantic City. I was bummed to see Frank Crudele's character go out in the pilot. I had high hopes that he would have been the funniest guy in the series.
Thanks for watching and do leave a rating!

My only complaint is they didn't give more screen time to Junior's character on this show. He was like in 5-6 episodes. He would have been a great re-occurring Boss through most of the series.

The actor who played Butchie and Johnny Torrio did a great job of adding the perfect amount of nuance to the latter which helped differentiate the two.

This is probably the best scene in the entire series because u got almost all the biggest original bosses of organized crime that came before all the others in America all together in one single scene eating at the same table together 💯 ofcourse minus Massaria , Capone & Lansky but they weren't as big yet , obviously niether was Lucky but he still was there & was lucky enough to witness this legendary dinner meeting of the very first bosses & actually sit at the table with them all even as a underling & got to witness all these original legends sit together & eat with all of them at the same exact table together 💯

You need to read up on how Arnold Rothstein operated. His primary concern was keeping his own hands clean. Plus he was mentoring him and Meyer as well as a few other young former street hoods. He taught them how to dress, how to use fine dining utensils, how to act in classy company. He wanted to refine them and teach them how to treat crime like a business. Some of them, like Dutch Shultz, did turn on him but Lucky was mostly reliable so he took him under his wing.

Well, history barely remembers him too. He didn't want to get into the liquor trade with prohibition and that ruffled a lot of feathers in Chicago. Torrio knew they would be missing out on MILLIONS of dollars but he couldn't go against Boss Big Jim Colosimo. Which is why shortly after this meeting Mr. Yale paid Colosimo a visit.

The thing about this show is I think they used today's dollar values rather than 1920s. Because $60,000 in the 1920s would be worth over $800,000 today and nobody's going to spend that much on booze for a wedding.
@DB-fn3fz
@DB-fn3fz 2 жыл бұрын
At 700 guests costing $800k, it's roughly $115 bucks a person for booze. In the time of prohibition. Today that's what just a plate costs at an affordable wedding. For me this is believable, even if it looks extreme.
@YoRon427
@YoRon427 2 жыл бұрын

@@YoRon427 I've personally never been to a wedding that was less than $30k. I've been to 2 weddings that were more than a million dollars with less than 300 guests. I live outside NYC. I think it depends on where you live. 700 guests at a very high profile wedding? In today's money at the venues I've been to, that'd be over $2 Mil. I really don't think the word "average" is relevant here. Anyway I see your point.

Clams is as torrio said, just slang for money. "I've decided to give your wife $25" means what it says but in court it means the judge has decided to have the husband pay the wife. Joke is the husband takes it literal and sarcastically says thanks I'll try to send her some money too from time to time, implying the judge will pay her for him.

You've got a pretty incompetent eye for acting. Steve Buscemi and Michael Stuhlbarg are both celebrated actors, Vincent Piazza nails his role, and Greg Antonacci has always played entertaining mobsters. Boardwalk Empire has always had a phenomenal ensemble cast, one of the best in television. This is the first time many of these characters have ever interacted, of course it's going to be stilted, forced polite and vaguely uncomfortable you knob.
