Honestly I think it has a lot to do with his up bringing back in Italy. Like he said before he died he came off the boat with nothing and a lot of this show is about people being a product of their family background and and environment plus dealing with consequences of their life choices. He prob had psychotic sociopathic family and ran away to the states to start a new life but couldn’t run away from his demons facing him from his past.

I don't think it's fair to call him psychotic or say he has a cracked mental state. I think he is surrounded by both luxury and a lot of pressure to kill people to get what he wants. The context is that he is surrounded by 1930's gangster mentality and he can't win at life by winning at being a gangster. I think that nobody in a bad situation can "work their way out of it" using the methods that got them into the mess. Gyp lives and dies by the sword.

The Christian or Abrahamic god doesn't say someone will go to hell for killing, just if you don't believe and ask for forgiveness. So basically, according to the bible, someone who lived a good life helping others but didn't believe in Jesus will go to hell, but a murderous killer who believed and asked for forgiveness will go to heaven.

John holdin what? No, this is foreshadowing. I don’t know if you meant Nucky or the writers, both are dumb answers though. Foreshadowing is a story element that alludes to a later event in the story. In this case, Gyp yelling in church of he has to be “pissing anc coughing up blood” something the writers used later on. Writers intentionally plan this because it makes good storytelling so I have no clue what you mean when you say “this isn’t foreshadowing because they planned this”

Say what you want about Rosetti's character, this was the single most human thing he expressed in the entire season. He was an amazing character in general, but this scene was a tortured soul just asking to be happy, just begging to have something in his life worth living for. He may have been a lost soul, but he wanted to find his place in all this. He wanted to be okay for once. And that's all we as human beings want in this life. To be able to say we're okay... And mean it... Truly and peacefully okay... That's all Gyp wanted... But the life he lived, the choices he made, and the person he was got in the way of happiness... This prayer is not just his, it's the prayer of every desperate soul looking for an answer, a sign, a way out of their own misery and into a happy life... 🙏

Recently there was a study that confirms those insecure in attachment to others are doomed to failed relationships. We saw poor Gyp was insecure in his upbringing, probably had one or two serious relationships that he lost because he couldn't figure out how to attach, and just doomed to constantly feel like an outsider that can only relate to others through force/dominance. A story many can relate to taken to its extremes.
