Hey Simon, thanks again for a great video. Regarding the applicator pads that you use, I wonder what you think of the pads with the plastic lining? I have heard that applicator pads with plastic lining are really good for applying ceramic sealant, as the plastic liner prevents sealants/etc from soaking into the sponge core and wasting. But I wonder, why not use a plastic lined pad for all of the products (buff, polish, sealant). Plastic lined pads are more expensive on Amazon, but I wonder if you might save on product use?? tks DaveH

I’m not sure it would save you on product use but you could try it out! I have tried to use it with sealants but it does NOT work. Sealants need foam applicators

Great video Simmon. Liked that you showed working through the problematic areas.

I've had really good luck starting with Presta and then going to Level R with heavier oxidation.

Sounds about right if you’re looking to avoid wet sanding. Presta is a heavier cut than Level R

Great information in this video. I will check out a couple of the products you mentioned. The best part of the video is when you are working so hard to remove the sealant and your coworker is on the other side of the boat texting on his cell phone!

What's your take on elevate vs ignition? And where do I get that stand extension platform? Thanks Simon.

Go with Elevate! I got the extension from Home Depot

How often is this maintained? How often are you buffing it with compound v just wash n wax?
@topdockpro Жыл бұрын
This was a first time detail. I’m not sure of the maintenance prior to us being there. But I do know the boat is stored under a canopy which helps a lot for preventing oxidation

Excellent video as always. Great to know Level R does not take out heavy oxidation like the 3 M. Bruce Brandeberry MArblehead, OH

It’s just the reality. People say that it does but in my experience it breaks down too fast to pull out medium oxidation

When I was getting into boat detailing I was taught to put the buffer in low speed them full speed and he “fast with it” but recently started seeing more people go slow. Does it matter if so why.?

The slower the RPMs, the slower the cut, the deeper the cut. Higher RPMs is ideal when finishing out a section, and even better for polishing.

U need 3d products like aca 510!! Or aca x - tra cut!! U will never look back. Stark is back in the day stuff.
@topdockpro Жыл бұрын
Why is Starke outdated? They use hybrid diminishing technology which fits better with a wet sanding approach or light oxidation. I’ve never tried 3d but it’s worth a shot!

@topdockpro Maybe "outdated" is too strong a word. But you definitely won't regret the 3d products.

Great video, but please mate, use some PPE, you need a mask, glasses and even some disposable gloves!
