Great to see you guys back on KZbin. We just had a successful sea trial with our new to us 2001 310 Sundancer after our marina completed 6 months of refit projects. We have 3 more small items being completed next week and then following week the boat's getting deep cleaned and detailed inside and out. Can't wait to get back out on the water here in FL (5 years without a boat). Watching your videos kept me motivated during the refit! Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

Good to hear that your 'new' boat will be ready for you soon. That said, I'd hate to see what six months worth of marina repairs might cost ;-) Where in the Sunshine State do you boat out of? We've visited pretty much all of Florida over the years and would probably be familiar with the area. . .

Thanks Brad, but please don't refer to me as 'captain'. I have no formal training or documentation to back that up - just a lifetime of wonderful experience in the water is my only qualification. Trust me, I've come across 'real' captains that I wouldn't feel confident with them piloting our vessel as far as the gas dock 😉

Sunsets while it rains are always sweet! That ChrisCraft behind you at the lock sure is well kept. That's what I notice about the Trent Severn, the boats are always pristine. That sure is a beauty place to tie up for the night.

It sure is. Problem though is now that there's shorepower at this lock, it'll be another overly popular spot, making it more difficult to get a place to tie up for the night. Not complaining, just observing...

Hey Paul, we spoke briefly about removing the stickers that you don't like. I spoke with a company and they said use a heat gun, the sticker will come right off, then they have a commercial product you can buy from Amazon, a little elbow grease and a plastic putty knife/scraper tool and we should be good to go. Come on spring!!
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo Жыл бұрын
Spoiler alert, but I've already removed the two waterline stripes on the port side. I used a wheel designed for that purpose and it worked great. I'll be including the footage I took of that part in the Spring as part of the overall removal+ reinstallation video, so watch for it then. Of course, I might throw up a teaser clip in one of my marina visits this wInTeR, so it's always a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for all of my new videos 😉

Hi can I ask how old are these canals and are they all man made thanks Aussie John
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo Жыл бұрын
Hi John. The lovely Trent Severn Waterway was completed in 1920, being a continuous route that connects Lake Ontario in the south with Lake Huron in the north. From anywhere on the 240 nile route one can, in theory, travel by water to anywhere in the world that is accessible from an ocean. And yes, that includes the land Down Under 😉 For more insights, I'll invite you to check out my 250++ videos I've produced from throughout the system, all contained in a neat playlist that spans the past number of years of our travels on our last four boats. And, bonus is that I'll be releasing a big production from a few years back, starting tomorrow, Sunday. Here's what I just posted on my channel; I've been working on a new feature for the channel that I hope you'll enjoy. Starting tomorrow, Sunday, I'll be releasing the first of four chapters from my 'Cruising The Trent Severn Waterway' production that was originally released in 2015 as a 72 minute long DVD/Blu Ray combo package. The full presentation takes viewers from 'Mile Zero' at Trenton on Lake Ontario, through the entire 240 miles/386 km right up to Lock #45 at Port Severn where the system meets Georgian Bay/Lake Huron. At the time, the disks were available for sale online, but due to the DVD format quickly losing appeal, they were no longer in demand and sales were ended... Rather than keep the video on the shelf, so to speak, I'm making it available for you here. There was a considerable amount of time invested into the production and it's my hope that everyone will enjoy the insights, lovely scenery and as always, inspiration! Subsequent chapters will be released each Sunday 😊

That’s really narrow!! I’m assuming it’s dredged really well. Hard to imagine passing another big boat.
@BoatingWithBoogaboo
@BoatingWithBoogaboo Жыл бұрын
In 20 years of traveling the lovely Trent Severn Waterway, I've never seen, nor heard tell of, dredging anywhere along the system. Not to say it doesn't happen, but would-be an extremely rare occurrence. Keep in mind that these are non-tidal waters - a completely different animal than your coastal cruising grounds. As for passing other large vessels it's very simple; maintain forward momentum, don't panic, and all is well. We've seen too many first time Loopers who will stop dead in areas like this when being approached (by us). I have more than one video on my channel reviewing this phenomenon and how to overcome any anxieties 😁
@eternitysshore
@eternitysshore Жыл бұрын
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo it is indeed a totally different animal one that I dream of one day experiencing. We have our crab pots and tides to deal with I guess. Thanks for the info.

Cool. We've had the good fortune to visit the Sunshine State a number of times over the years and did see some fairly big dredging operations happening on (at?) a Gulf side cut. I'm sure that with all the lively weather they get down there, dredging would be a regular and necessary occurrence. If you haven't already posted your video, that would make for some good 'off season' content 👍
