A recipe from my mums 1977 dairy cookbook (she probably bought from the milkman) for scones 100g wholemeal flour 100g plain flour 2tsp baking powder Pinch salt 40g butter 1/4 pint milk (125ml) Milk for brushing Sift dried ingredients into bowl Rub in butter until like breadcrumbs ( very therapeutic) Add milk, mix Turn out onto floured worktop. Knead until smooth Roll out to about 1cm thickness. Cut into 9 or 10 rounds Put on greased baking tray. Brush tops with milk. Bake toward top of oven gas mark 8 for 7 to 10 mins Cool on wire rack You could probably add some extra ingredients like cheese or nooch. Or use all white flour and add cinnamon. All lovely served warm with butter ❤

I'm loving Vlogsmas so far. The parts where you both start laughing are a delight. Now, as far as making the bed, I love the clippy contraption. However, I was literally holding my hand up and turning my head, thinking, "It's all fun and games until somebody winds up one-eyed Jim"

Awww, cozy vloggin’! Hope Rufus is much better by now and his ordeal is over. Plus i think nobody like changing the bedding! What you could do i guess is go for tartan ones or a dark red one for the winter period, i go for stretchy ones too as they tend to not get all creased up or come loose. But the feeling of having turned the matrass and knowing everything is fresh is the best feeling. ❤🎉🦮🦴❤

I'm sorry for the circumstances that have you "stuck" in a marina, but I do love seeing what daily life on your narrowboat is like. There are lots of narrowboat vlogs out there where the people cruise and tour the towns they pass, but you share with us what living on a narrowboat is like. You two are interesting and entertaining no matter what you're doing and Vlogmas is extra special. Nobody does it better.

First time commenting. It can be a struggle to move about when it's windy and pouring here in Chicago. Really love your Chanel, your zest for including your viewers in the action- good or bad, and your infectious sense of humor. How I would have wished Wes had followed the directions for the bean dish! Amy, you seemed so tickled, I think, with the thought it could have happened! Glad Rufus is tolerating his meds. You are loving parents. Keep sharing love, humor and life. Merry Vlogmas!

So pleased you've put a new battery in your clock though!! Nice to have the boat back for just you two after your friends have gone. Hi guys, here’s a pie tip, cut all your tops first, then use the scraps for the bottoms, this works for both shortcrust and puff pastry, the little individual pie pans are called pattie pans by the way, lastly remember cooking is an art, but baking is a science!. We too are in a marina but was still scary, glad Rufus seems to be coping with his chemo, xx😊

You staying inside gives me an excuse to stay inside and watch you stay inside...lol... I did basically what you guys did today before I even watched this episode... haha... it's pretty mild out here today but drizzly and about 9 degrees.....it's been below zero for days so this is a pleasant surprise to get some outdoor work done this morning ... while you were baking I was eating a homemade pretzel I got at a market yesterday with a cup of tea and a glass of wine... lol...your baked goods looked so pretty! I love the heart idea! I don't bake much but my mum did and when she baked she would bake the shells (cups or pie shells) first for a few minutes after thoroughly pricking with a fork. then added the filing and the tops and then the bottom was full cooked. I don't know if that is atypical way of baking but she always did it that way with sweets ad even with meat and chicken pot pies. They were never soggy and never fell apart. Now I am getting the bug to bake. I've been trying breads lately and I found someone who I finally connected with that I have been super successful with and it's so rewarding!!! PS... thank goodness you guys show your 'normal" days because it makes us feel more normal. I am so watching that movie!!!

A tip for jam tarts - only put a little bit of jam in and then afterwards you can add more - it helps the base cook better. I don't know whether is works for mince pies - I don't like them (team Amy!) cooked, let alone wanting to try mincemeat not from the oven. We are both enjoying the vlogmas series. Me in particular - Christmas in a hot country just is not the same. I miss UK for Christmas. Tim & Jalika, Malaysia

Hi. Loving vlogmas 😊 forgot to post at the time but here's one for later if you fancy it. My mum is gluten and dairy in tolerant so I've created a brownie recipe for her which is by proxy vegan! You can, of course, use normal flour. brownies 150 g peanut butter 250 g sweet potato puree (bake in skins in oven, scoop out middles when soft and mash) 150 g gluten-free flour 100g dark choc melted 1 cup hot water and cocoa 1 tbs 250 g brown sugar 100 g chocolate chips Make sweet potato puree. Mix peanut butter, sweet potato puree and flour. Melt chocolate Make hot water/cocoa mix. Leave to cool slightly. AddMelted choc to PB/sweet pot/ flour mix. Add hot water cocoa Add sugar Add chocolate chips Spread out in a tin and bake 20/30 mins or until top has hardened. Note mixture can be quite stiff, I often end up mixing the sugar in with my hands! And it needs pushing into the tin but it makes delicious gooey brownies. 😊
