I love this song my dad played it and said it was our song. On his death bed I played it for him while he was in an induced coma and I know he knew I was there at that time. he heard the song and tried to talk but he squeezed my hand and then gone to be with the Lord. my mom and I get butterflies at our front door almost everyday. I miss the physical part of not having him around. But he's not in anymore pain, and daddy keep the butterflies coming. I LOVE YOU.

He was in the room with me as my dad was passing and my father was asking him to take care of me for him. Until the end he was thinking of his only girl. My mother passed September 2022 she was saved at 11-14 so, she's in heaven for sure pray your dad and my mommy are friends now. I've always cried at the "feel like I'm losing my baby girl" line. I had my dad for 29 wonderful years and just lost him a few days ago. I envy all those girls who had fathers that care and love them very much. My own father was extremely physically and verbally abusive all throughout my youth so I never knew a father's love that I needed so bad...what a difference it would have made in my life. Lifelong depression and sadness instead. Honestly, I think this may be the greatest song ever written. Especially for fathers. I can't speak for the daughters out there, but I've cried 3 times in the past 20 years, and two of them were because of this song. It makes me sad, though. I'll never see my daughter turn 16, and I'll never see her marry. But I remember butterfly kisses. It's always a struggle to convince myself that having that experience was worth the decades of pain; but in the end, I couldn't imagine life without. When I started reading your comment, I thought I had forgotten that I had written it;it's very similar to what I have written about my dad,who also passed away 2 years ago,Oct. 2018. Thank you for your beautiful words. I was a stay at home father because I wouldn't put my little girl in anyone's care until I was required by law to send her to school. With all the time I have spent with her and continue to spend with her (less and less because she is now driving, dating, working, etc) I still can't help but feel as though I have not done enough for her, kissed her enough, or spent enough time with her. She reassures me she loves me deeply and that she remembers the time I spent with her and assures me I spent more than enough time with her but as i see her grow up and slowly slip away and need me less and less, I can't help but wish i had to do all over again, not so much to change much, because I really did my best, but for the sole reason of selfishness on my part to go through the pleasure and privilege of redoing those 18 years again. Fathers spend time with your kids, forget the time with the guys, drinking with the boys, etc. 18 years passes so quickly, and time waits for no one, and time missed with your kids is never recovered. And once they don't need you, its too late.
