He’s really awake. He’s working a good program. In our modern society, the addicts, especially the young ones, will have a nearly insurmountable task. The situation now is dire more than ever. The big book. The steps . The original group. They had a magical bond and experience. They never could have forseen what society would look like today. 12 step based recovery organizations worldwide are missing the point ALL over. Sobriety is NOT the same thing as recovery as it’s stated in the book! Listen to Tom B speak on emotional sobriety. The 12 steps are a way to walk the path of God that humans have been trying to come up with a method to do for years. Tom ties them together in a beautiful way in his talk. Truly working the steps and turning it over every. Single. Day. And tirelessly pursuing rigorous honesty (and I mean 100% open honest all the time about everything) and you will have magic around you. It’s not about being sober. It’s about doing the will of your higher power and things you never thought imaginable will happen to you. You have no idea how good your life can be. You have no idea where you will end up. So give up control. How? Work the steps and be honest all the time. Miracles happen fast. It took me 10 years of almost dying to figure out that this is bigger than sobriety it is divine intervention. And you WILL forget it if you stop working it. It’s part of the disease, stated in the book. And it happened to me

He has a very good understanding of alcoholism. Restless, irritable and discontent the commonality of this disease. I do not think psychiatrists yet understand much about alcoholism both during drinking as well especially after a person quits alcohol.
