Elvin Bishop was Paul Butterfield guitarist before Michael Bloomfield was added, Bloomfield was there at Newport backing Dylan : Dylan Goes Electric at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival On the evening of July 25, 1965, Bob Dylan took the stage at the Newport Folk Festival in black jeans, black boots, and a black leather jacket, carrying a Fender Stratocaster in place of his familiar acoustic guitar

I loved Paul Butterfield and got to see them play live a few times also loved the original Al Cooper Blood Sweat and Tears with Mike Bloomfield and their continues journey. Fooled Around and fell in Love by Elvin is one of my all time fave songs. Dylan sounds amazing here.

Love both . . . but BOB! You'd look better in a Pill Box Hat! In all my life of going to concerts, I've only walked out of two and both were Bob Dylan. One, I was behind the stage, couldn't hear anything, and Dylan was in a foul mood, throwing his guitar at the tech . . . I left. The second was a small show at a New Mexico casino. The damn girl behind me was screaming constantly. I turned around and said, 'He can't hear you, but I sure can.' That shut her up for half a minute . . . so, I left.

So fine to.see and hear Elvin Bishop with Bob Dylan. In those days I liked the music of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band more than Dylan. I don't exactly know when I started to appreciate Dylan.Maybe those bootlegs with the Band.Anf,though I am not such a Christian,I always liked Slow train and of the later albums Every grain of sand for example.Amd,what was that song....Well ,don't know now. As for the words,I have not much understanding for poetry.I could better understand the lyrics he wrote with Jacques Levy. I am not stupid.I have read Marcuse,Bloch and Adorno, but I am rather simple minded, almost one dimensional. I remember how I.once read, that Dylan had remarked that just common folks could appreciate the music of Slow train. But,I am not looking from above at them, but I cann't associate with them.I cann't follow the masses.Could I ever have led the masses?A friend advised me to follow a course in retorics. He expected me to become a new Marx. But I feared to become another Hitler.Or an instrument of forces out of my controll.i have been thinking over and over, but all I found out that all that I could believe in,turned out to be in vain and that sometimes it's better to believe in a minor lie for the good sake as long as you are conscious of.
