This isn't Foster at his best. Ahumada was an excellent challenger but if he had competed with the early 70s Foster this bout would have ended with Ahumada on his back.

I have always been interested in this match, and will try to watch of it as much as I can. I have heard that Foster really got a gift decision. While I have always had foster as one of the top light heavy weights, I would have been curious how he would have faired in the late 70's against men like Mathew Saad Muhamed, Eddie Mustafa Muhamed? I do think that Michael Spinsk would have beaten him. I think that boxers like Gene Tunney, when he was a light heavy, Izzard Charles, Archie Moore would have gotten the better of him.

But the fact was that didn’t happen. Foster won this fight with the help of the ref. Yes Ahumada low blowed him, but Foster was five literally the ok to low blow, since he didn’t get points taken away.
