Please consider a few more seascapes like this- Also- can you paint surface waves- not the Ross way- Maybe more clouds- Your channel really deserves more - and viewers - beginners and painters are missing out on such great lessons- Please comment on other painting KZbin channels- so viewers can see your icon and click for being your channel- Remind- suggest in the intro- (please take the time to hit that like button-) And in ending- Take out the cup of tea- Really- you should have so much more subscribers-

Thank you Deanie 😍 I hope you give it a go. Just have fun following along. But if it looks too big a task then just have a go at a section of the sky and drop in a calm sea like this one mkzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqfOkIB6eq6AZ5o Use the same color combo's as my video or paint them on a theme 😃

Hi - my number one choice would be this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqfOkIB6eq6AZ5o Its one I think anyone can paint and get a descent result. I have lots more classic wave ones and a few with slightly more detail. But I try and make them all good for a beginner to try. Hope this helps 😃

Hi Tony - I've been playing with paint and seascapes for a while and thats the real key to all this stuff. Playing, experimenting, correcting and making those happy accidents along the way. I still get in a pickle but over time I've learned to spot the challenges earlier and correct them sooner. Have fun and paint a uniquely yours version of this.😎

Hi Paul I've bought some Bob Ross liquid white from Amazon and it seems very runny not sure if I've bought a fake product it drips of my knife, any advice would be much appreciated
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter - Liquid white is a very soft oiley paint so I'm not surprised its thinner that you might have expected. One thing to ensure is that its well mixed because it can seperate in the can. I use a long palette knife and get right to the bottom of the can. Then give it a good stir until your sure its thoroughly mixed. It should be like whipped cream. On my videos I use a small air tight container to save having to do this every time I use Liquid White as its a smaller amount. Another tip. Seal the can well ( the lids can be tricky to get on fully ). I pop my container in the freezer ( yes thats right ). This will cause the paint to stiffen but not dry out. Allow to come upto room temperature before using. Hope this helps. Here's a video showing how to test you canvas for coverage just in case kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ-apZ1qnLuCZqM

@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Hello Khadija - I read your comment carefully Are you on Facebook too? There's a wonderful artist there with the same name. Is that you? If so then you have nothing to worry about. Adding wet layers can sometimes lead to a painting getting too overworked. I do it and so will many others. On more complex paintings like the seascape I try and get the main blocks of the painting completed whilst still wet. So a simple sky and the seascape blocked in. I try and get the eye of the wave done also as its a transparent effect and is more easily completed on a wet canvas. The added detail like rocks, surf and the glow in the sky are added a day or two later. I hope my explanation is understandable. Love to Algeria - Paul

Just tried this one last night, fantastic job! Quick question. When I use the fan brush to apply the foam at the edge of the wave, I feel like I don't get enough white coming off the brush, or it starts to get muddy with the neighboring paints. I know from one of your videos your applying liquid white can be a huge cause, but I feel like the liquid white I applied was correct, any tips for avoiding this in the future? Thank you!
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Greg - first off, thank you so much for the 'coffee'. Your kind donation helps me buy more paint and supplies for the next tutorial so many thanks. Now for the question about adding foam. The main principal is that a thin paint will stock to a thick paint. Hence taking care to not over do the liquid white which makes the very first colours too thin and nothing sticks. Sounds like you have that sorted. But subsequent layers need to be slightly thinner than th last so they stick. I use very little paint for my backgrounds. The sea is really scrubbed on thin so any highlights should stick quite well. With one exception. If your using Bob Ross Titanium white the its deliberately thick so you can paint a mountain and make the paint break. But it might need a dab of liquid white to thin it. Then it should stick. Its a matter of feel sometimes and that comes with lots of practice. And yes, even I mix mud sometimes so your not alone. Hope my rambling answer gives you a few pointers - Paul 😎😎

@gregorystannard1652

I tried a few more highlights in practice the other night, and think it may be the paint I am using as well... I am relatively new so haven't splurged on the Bob Ross oil paints yet, and the dark base does not feel as thick as it should. I'll keep playing with the liquid white as well to make sure its perfect. I am going to try campfire next, and may lay down the dark base and let it dry, coming back to do the highlights later to prevent muddying, until I buy the better quality paints. Does that sound like a reasonable idea? (Future video idea possibly, difference between cheap oil paint and better quality paint...) Thank you!@@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Yes, the thickness / quality of the oil paints will make a huge difference to how well they work. BUT not even Bob Ross paint is immune from being too oily sometimes! One quick way to stiffen up the dark colours is to put them on a piece of cardboard for a while and let it soak up some of the oil. You'll see a dark ring forming after a few minuets. Then try again. It will take some experimenting but its worth a try rather than waste paint. Just paint a small sample piece to test your mixtures. Best wishes Paul

I'm trying to find out what Bob Ross liquid clear is. can you help Paul just starting out and funds are tight great channel Paul I live in the UK and finding bob ross paint is difficult to find
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 8 ай бұрын
Hi James - Bob Ross Liquid Clear is a product dreamed up by Bob and sold under his own brand. Its a 'secret formula' of course but linseed oil can be used as a substitute if used with care. Bob's was a nice slightly thickened product which needs to be scrubbed on very thinly. Linseed oil is much thinner and so needs to be applied even more sparingly and often dabbed off so its not too wet. With practice its a pretty good substitute and dries slowly. If you add a little titanium white over it you get a similar effect for liquid white. But obviously just a little more oily so again practice will be needed. Hope this helps. 😃

Ok, so I’m just seeing this for the first time and it’s gorgeous. The colors, textures and implied motion is sublime, and the scene is replete with the brilliant choice of added subtle value contrast towards the end. It seems like magic how you took your BR knowledge along with your experience at the coast and made a museum quality rendering. This should be gold gilt framed, if not already.

Hi Amy - Your so sweet 🥰but I wasn't that good at anything to begin with. Some of my early seascapes would make anyone a bit sea sick LOL. So start somewhere. Just pick a section of the painting and start playing. Maybe a nice pastel sky and a flat calm sea with a rock and water line. Use this to test colours maybe. Then progress a little. Its all baby steps but I know you'll get there. And Yes, living by the sea is wonderful. I get withdrawl symptoms if I go too far inland 🤗🤗
