Thank you so much 😀Mary. I've enjoyed playing with seascapes and think I'll paint a few more. Maybe working from a photograph would be a good subject. Been watching your videos too. Love the light loose style and sooo different from oils. Keep up the good work. 🤓

Wow, thanks Angela 🤗. I think it was watching Bob pulling reflections on a beach that got me started and down the road as a Certified Ross Instructor. And here I am some 20+ years later reteaching some of his techniques. They still look good and I'm pleased you enjoyed my video. I'll be doing more classic Bob paintings with a new one due this Wednesday.

Fantastic ! This is exactly what I needed to wind-down and relax after a hard night of the graveyard shift. Watching you (and Bob Ross) paint has inspired me to invest in some painting supplies and give it a whirl myself. Hopefully, after some practice, I'll be able to paint something just half this nice. I think this could easily become a lifetime hobby. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your vault of knowledge and skill.

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comments. But time for a warning - painting is adictive. Once you see the world through an artists eyes there's no going back, thankfully 🙂 Enjoy the journey. Its successes, stumbles and sometimes disasters. But always have fun. Laugh often. I usually do principally as myself. Keep in touch and hopefully I and other tutors will inspire you in the future 😎- Paul

I haven't felt so relaxed and entertained while I learned how to do this, since I watched Bob Ross. Your Moonlight Seascape is beyond awesome Paul, it's so beautiful and serene. I love how you have kept the colours muted and the edges darkened - it's so atmospheric! Well done, this is fabulous work, and a joy to watch you play with the oil paints and colours. Hi Cheryl - Running out of room is a headache for most artists. Even the old masters would paint several trial paintings, adding and removing elements that did not work. When painting originals I often do a 5 min pencil sketch that catches some of the challenges before I invest a ton of time on a painting that becomes a fire lighter. If I can get better at photoshop I'd probably use that for quick layouts in future. Its on the list with a million other things ha! 😜
@AnimalArtbyTerraCotta2 жыл бұрын
@@PaulRansonArt I can certainly say that a quick thumbnail sketch has saved me time, and I always use a coloring app and just whip sketch with the digital brush and then throw some quick colors behind to test out the best complementary background. Takes just a few min ... and yeah, I should learn photoshop. I bumble at best in it. The digital sketch is a zip and so I just don't myself to explore PS too much. Ha, is right! 😋

I've got an tablet sitting in a box gathering dust so what app do you use Cheryl? Maybe a future how to video on the process you go through. 🎨

@@PaulRansonArt Procreate is best but there's a learning curve. I actually subscribe to the Pigment coloring app (grandfathered in at a half price rate!) and I can whip a sketch together in minutes because I'm so familiar with the brushes. I could do the same in Procreate if I'd just practice for a week ... but who has a week?!? LOL. Procreate is one time fee and very reasonable. Life time updates. Strong recommend!

Hi Jonathan - well truth be told my first few seascapes we're .... well lets just draw a curtian over them. But I didn't give up. I studied the classic shape of the wave. Once I had that in my head my waves improved. Now its like using a knife and fork. I don't have to think about it but just enjoy the process. I still get gravy down my shirt of course so I'll keep practicing with the fork! 😃😍😎

Absolutely gorgeous!! Wow! I gave this one a go 2 days ago and I lacked a bit of nuance in the surf lines but other than that it turned out really well I think! One lady on social media who described herself as "very picky" when it comes to purchasing artwork was interested in buying it. She actually asked if I taught?! Best compliment ever!! 😀 She didn't buy BUT I now have to do at least 1 more of these for someone who wants one! Quick Question sir-Would it work if I mixed AC with the blue to make purple? it seems like it would but having not attempted mixing 2 transparent colors not sure and thought I'd ask. Once again, THANK YOU for not only the fantabulous videos (if Bob can make up words, so can we right? 🤪) but also the inspiration to push outside of my comfort zone! I own you another (coffee) real soon Paul You're awesome! 🙏😃 Your friend in painting Alan
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Alan - sound like you hit the spot with your painting 😊And, yes absolutely to making a lavender-purple version of this scene. I use Phalos Blue and Alizarin Crimson as I find Prussian Blue a little too cool and dark. It takes careful mixing to get the shade just right but it makes a stunning seascape. Happy painting and thank you for the kind comments.🤗🤗

Hello Paul I am in quit a pickle I started this moonlight painting {for the second time. I am a totally new painter anyway I love your calmness and easy to follow vidios and when I started all was going well I got to the point of finishing the moon but a family issue came up so needless to say my painting dried before I could complete it so my question is how do I if possible continue how do I get back to the wet on wet??? This is supposed to be a gift and I SO Would be SO GRAITFUL if you or anyone of your amating followers reading this could please help me out I m not able to start from the beginning again but if the only way is to competly paint over what I've started that I can deal with God bless all in this feed and Please Uggg all sugestions will be so appreciated🤗
@PaulRansonArt Жыл бұрын
Hi - thanks for reaching out for some help. As long as your background sky and moon has dried completely you can add a second glaze of liquid clear and a colour. The colours I use are transparent so keep the areas you like and gently re apply colour the parts of your painting you need to finish. Actually adding multiple glazes can produce some amazing effects. BUT just be sure each layer has dried completely. If a previous layer is not fully dried the new liquid clear coat will lift the partly dried layer which will make a real mess of the painting. Hope this help - good luck with the painting - Paul😎😎

Hi Paul I just got done painting this and was wondering have you had a problem with titanium white ? I have bob ross 200 ml but it is getting hard to push out and to paint with especially using the fan brush its not going on very well at all only had it 4 months ,difficult to going on brush have tried to mix with liquid white, thinner and linseed oil . BAD Batch ??
@PaulRansonArtАй бұрын
Hi - There are some small vairations in batches. Some oily some dry. But one top tip is to give the tube a bit of a massage to remix the paint and oil which separates in the tube. I spend a few minuets on tubes that are problem tubes. Its surprising how the paint softens up. If that dosen't work then I use a drop of linseed oil - not thinners to make the paint softer. Hope this helps - Paul 😃😍
@jgb5814Ай бұрын
@@PaulRansonArt yes I did that too,but I had an idea 💡 I used one of my syringes,sucked up 1 cc linseed oil or so and injected it into the top of tube had long enough needle to go into middle of tube and work up ,did a massage and seemed to work fine!
@PaulRansonArtАй бұрын
@@jgb5814 brilliant idea. I've managed to drip a drop or two of linseed oil into the tube before now but the 'linseed inoculation' method sounds spot on!😃😃
