Bob Ross might have been a gentle soul with some skill in one style of painting who loved little critters BUT HE WAS MERELY A HUMAN BEING. People please don't liken him to The Lord. Ross was diagnosed with lymphoma in the early 1990s, which eventually forced his retirement after The Joy of Painting's final episode aired on May 17, 1994. He died at the age of 52 on July 4, 1995
