Had insomnia since birth, now over 60yo. One doctor said I should hand myself into the police as the only way I could have such bad sleep was if I had a really bad conscience. So I said what since birth? or was it in a past life?. 🙁

One problem I’m having is with the intermittent fasting and waking up hungry at night. I’ve been trying to finish my daily eating no later than 6 pm with a light dinner. But then I wake up around 2 am with my stomach growling and can’t get back to sleep.

Dark chocolate 80-90% Cocoa is most effective ( maximum of 2 ounces). Parsley, add 1-2 spoons of finely cut parsley to any dish evening meal A cup of green tea is also helpful in improving sleep.

8 Sheep sells a magnesium cream for pregnancy AND sleep. There's a great video on Vitamin D and sleep. Most people in north America don't get enough Vitamin D.

Valerian root is crazy. It will knock you out and my far part is when I wake up in the middle of the night I can fall right back to sleep.

When I go to sleep at 9-10 pm, I still wake up earlier than I want to. I wouldn't mind waking up at 3am...if there were 7-8 hours sleep prior to that. It doesn't matter what time I go to sleep, my body usually only allows me to sleep 5-6 hours. Even when I feel I am going to have a god long sleep as I lay down for the night, I end up waking up earlier than I want. I have black out curtains, I changed my mattress, I use a mattress toper for comfort, I do not eat 2-3 hours prior to going to sleep, I do not consume caffeine before bed, I listen to pink noise (tried others and like pink), I don't drink anything after a certain time to prevent from getting up to pee, I don't fool with my phone prior to going to sleep, and I lay down very tired. I do not have an issue falling asleep. I have an issue with my length of sleep. I put on a box fan for background noise and a timer for my TV. If I don't fall asleep with some type of noise, my mind will be searching for all and every little sound that I could possibly hear in my house and it takes longer to get to sleep. I have tried mushroom coffee - not that tasty. I have tried chamomile tea - doesn't seem to work. Haven't tried valerian root yet - I don't think. My blood work states I am within the range for healthy magnesium levels. Never tried L-Theanine tea. I can try the options I haven't tried before but there's not much else to try.

Valerian or a Magnesium powder works best for me! I had a bad case of insomnia 3 years ago and these worked well.

Valerian root makes my heart race. I think I’m allergic to it. I recommend trying it on a day off, just in case!

My elderly mother has trouble sleeping but she can’t drink tea before bed or she will have too many bathroom trips, so supplements would be better. My concern is interaction with her meds. Do I have to worry about that?

Let's see man, cause holy hell my insomnia is on another level. Lately i can't even stay asleep for 2 friggin hours! I'll stay awake for 3, FINALLY fall asleep.......and wake up an hour later. The rest of the night it's intervals of sleep for 1, awake for 2. Fml 🤦🏻‍♂️ this is ridiculously frustrating, I JUST WANT TO SLEEP!!!!!!

I read 68F is the sweet spot for sleep. I think it was based on sleep clinic data.

Have never had any trouble! Need guidance how to get rid of my belly fat that started after I turned 50. I swim and do aquarobics three times a week and walk the other days uphill and down and watch my diet but although I am very healthy this fat just won't move!

@@Saucyakldah, he sounds like what I call a "rip" snorer, straight trying to rip the roof off. Have you ever tried anything to "ignore"? I've tried earplugs of all sorts, meditation, the whole bit. I'm gonna try hypnosis next, because nothing else seems to work for me.

I had 2 charcoal tablets last night and slept all night. First in ages. Just saw leafy greens on the board well I had tons of cooked spinach for dinner. Could be good magnesium that made me sleep.

There is a homeopathic Remedy called Sepia that will regulate hormones and really help hot flashes. I can't sleep when I'm that cold. I live in the tropics where the temp usually doesn't go below 60 and I still wear a sweat shirt to bed.

Stop eating all highly processed /refined foods (sugar, flour, vegetable /seed oils.) Research a real food low carb / ketogenic diet focused on animal foods to treat/resolve your diabetes (aka carbohydrate toxicity syndrome) and supplement B complex + extra B1/Thiamine (allithiamine or benfotiamine are more bioavailable forms) to treat the neuropathy. Many studies support these interventions. Do this with the help of your health care provider as diabetic and blood pressure medications will need to be reduced or completely stopped as they become "too strong" and hypoglycemia or hypotension can result if meds are not adjusted.
