1st time is facts and excercises. Watching the whole video. 2nd time watching you only want the exercises. I really wish they did this for their videos by writing the time stamps in the description.

How about something for ankles?! Please!!!
@cockeyedoptimista2 жыл бұрын
Yes! You rarely hear about ankles. Arthritis affects these too- plus they’re important in general.

Id love to know their thoughts on exercises to avoid and what type of cardio to avoid. Ive heard people say avoid leg extensions and others advocate doing them to strengthen the knee and quad
@cockeyedoptimista3 жыл бұрын
I would say do those! Just start easy.

To anyone with knee pain: on top of the great tips in the video, you can also try regularly stretching your calves/hips. This was suggested by my coach and basically cured 90% of my knee issues as well as my old lady's. Something about the tight muscles pulling on the knee in an imbalanced why (he's the kinesiologist not me lol)

@cockeyedoptimista3 жыл бұрын
"Old lady"?! Appreciate the tip, though: those muscles feel tight on me a lot. But how old Are you? (Needn't answer! Just:) because osteoarthritis needs support from surrounding muscles too, I think. But stretching is probably also helpful.
@heavyhowl63653 жыл бұрын
@@cockeyedoptimista I'm pretty young, not really suffering from ailments like arthritis which typically affect older folks. So it's definitely not a one size fits all type of fix. But very easy to try and see before moving on to more invasive or difficult methods of solving pain!

I wouldn't want to do any exercises with knees over toes. Too much stress on the knees.
@tillypeas4522 Жыл бұрын
These look like great exercises. But I have a big recommendation for those who are having arthritic problems, make sure to get enough vitamin D. Studies show the majority of people with arthritis have a vitamin D deficiency.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna give these a try. I'm 62 and never had leg and knee issues until I had Covid-19. Post covid I'm experiencing knee / leg pain, weakness and strange knots in muscles/tendons? My worry is decreased strength while hoping these side effects go away. Maybe you can touch on this in a video?
@davidh73003 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on the natural immunity TJ hope you come back better than ever.

@@davidh7300 Let me tell you, it was a bit scary. See, I'm in the early stages of COPD but I had no real breathing issues. I've been taking zinc for years! What got me was the migraine headaches! 4 days without sleep was not fun! A buddy of mine got me hooked up with a doc friend of his. Some headache meds and some good pain killers and I was finally able to sleep! BTW doc has a way different take on the natural immunity. Been 4 months now and I am still loaded for bear! Stay safe, stay healthy!

Goodness, I haven’t heard of that side effect. Sorry; hope you recover. Maybe it’s just atrophy from not being able to be too active while ill. If you used to exercise a lot, try to build back up slowly. It can be easy to overdo and that will cause cramps. Stretch for the knots? Maybe Bob & Brad touch on knots elsewhere.

Just an FYI for you dear fellas to consider. Surprisingly the best exercises I found for taking away my knee pain is when I had Achilles tendinitis. Using a band, the workout hits the whole length of the leg and both sides as well as the ankle shin and calves because of the resistance with the foot flexion. All while on the floor.👍
@margaretjones83323 жыл бұрын
What were the exercises you did using bands
@cockeyedoptimista2 жыл бұрын
Cockeyed Optimista 0 seconds ago So how did you use the band, exactly, Candid Ly, I wonder? You’re sitting on the floor? Maybe you’re holding it and it’s around the bottom of your foot and you’re flexing the foot? I was just trying to imagine what you’d do..

You both are a God send. Seriously the millions of people you’ve helped. What a beautiful thing. My ortho gave me the bad news that I have lost cartilage under my patella. Didn’t suggest exercise, refer me to a therapist, or tell me to lose weight. I suppose literally everything is a business and he just wants me to keep coming to his office. But I’m determined to actively manage this and I am so so grateful to have found your channel 💕thank you both!

Will using a compression sleeve on the knee prevent the muscles from strengthening? I bought both kinds, a knee brace/compression sleeve with side metal springs and a plain compression sleeve. I feel I need some kind of support while strengthening as my knee does buckle. I have tricompartmental osteoarthritis. I was glad that Brad said you need to strengthen the quads to help that. Thanks for these exercises! I'll definitely be doing them. I just want to make sure using a compression sleeve won't prevent the muscles from strengthening. Thanks for your time.
