You can tell he hasn’t gotten over that hurdle in the past. He seems to have bought into this idea that, because the whole “Ned” thing got brought up, that because of the way he was already hated by most of the guys, that because the vast majority of his accusers make blanket accusations against his stealing as opposed to specifying individual jokes (which they actually have), what happened to him wasn’t his fault. He fails to address the crux of the issue, because that’s simply too hard for him. But if it’s not his fault, then he has no reason to apologize to anyone, and he’ll convince himself to the death that this was a case of inhumane bullying instead of justice being served.

One of many great lessons my dad taught me was that when you do something wrong, when you screw up. Own up to it, own it, make it right if you can, and apologize. People that can’t do that are self centered and don’t actually consider other people ever.
@Big_Pickle3 ай бұрын
Your dad was a smart man. He knew all people make mistakes. He also knew when a person owns up to those mistakes and apologizes for them the weight of the world gets lifted from their shoulders and life gets much easier going forward. Very sage advice.
@Wickwok3 ай бұрын
@@Big_Pickle thanks man. Honestly my dad wasn't the smartest guy but he wasn't dumb either. But he had a very solid value system. Uncompromising morals. Probably more so than anyone I've ever met. He is a devout catholic, He was in the army, then he was a state trooper. He sees things as very black and white. No gray area. My mom is very intelligent though, my brother took most of her genes, my sister's all of them, myself a mix of both, my dad's physical appearance with my mom's intellect and psychological baggage that comes with it. My dad is a better man than I am, although I may be a little smarter than him or at least more adapting to change. He is a very simple guy. He liked what he liked, I've never seen him change his mind on anything. He also always did what was right, but he was and is very bad at taking advice or adapting to the ever changing world. He is extremely stubborn. He's old, has issues getting around but refuses help. What I do know is, I'm spite of all my flaws, my past sins, without his influence I may very well have turned into a scumbag or a degenerate. It wasn't always easy with him as a dad, he held us accountable always even when we were very young. And I rebelled against that when I was in my late teens. I think he lacked the ability to get through to people. It was his way or the highway. Didn't need to explain himself. But with kids, the explanation means everything.
@yeahyeahwowman8099Ай бұрын
The problem is that owning up to some things isn't gonna fix the amount of damage that is already done. The comedy world especially, once you are labeled a joke thief, it's basically career suicide at that point.
@WickwokАй бұрын
@@yeahyeahwowman8099 that's not a problem with owning your past errors and mistakes. That's a consequence of doing something bad or wrong. You don't own up with the thinking that doing so will absolve you of the wrongdoing. You do it to show yourself and others you are aware that it was wrong and will work to change or correct it if possible. Issue in the comedy world is that 80% of jokes are stolen. So comics get frustrated by this. So those like ned who do it pervasively are hated and vilified. IMHO I have found at least in my life, that if you own up to your mistakes, especially if you sacrifice to make them right, you are more likely to be forgiven than just pressing forward or doubling down. But forgiving and forgetting are very different.

In every scenario, Ned is the victim and the hero. Long winded answers to questions he wasn't asked. Refusing to see anything from any other perspective but his own. Refusing to take any accountability, even when called out by his own friend right to his face... Textbook narcissism at its absolute finest.

the guy has a type of personality and way of communicating that can rub people the wrong way. i get it. but just because you dont like the way he explains himself and tells his side of the story, doesnt mean he's not being forthright about this issue. he even did the thing bobby lee recommended in offering a "blanket" apology at the end, but i dont imagine you heard it because you already decided what and who he is. which actually proves Mencia's point in that it doesnt matter what he says or how many ways he apologizes, ppl continue saying the same thing.
@alternativeharvey72 жыл бұрын
@@agonzalez8924 I was thinking the same thing. He did do an apology blanket. Yet no one hears it. And no one can give an example of what jokes he "stole" . Like as if no one has the balls to sat or it isn't the case.
