With Joe Rogan appearing on Andrew Schulz's FLAGRANT 2 podcast a few weeks ago and addressing the Carlos Mencia situation again, I thought it'd be fun to revisit the most memorable comedic rollercoaster (of my lifetime).
It was interesting to hear how Rogan had some remorse for the fall out of how everything happened, but ultimately was secure in his decisions. First I've seen that side from Joe in this situation.
Added in a ton of Bobby Lee Tigerbelly clips because it provides a good through line of Carlos' take on the situation.
Long live the slept king.
················································
Clips from:
Tigerbelly : Carlos Mencia | TigerBelly 279
Tigerbelly : Ari Shaffir & The Chocolate Bar | TigerBelly 97
Tigerbelly : Godfrey & The Cheddar Man | TigerBelly 311
Tigerbelly : Bert Kreischer Fights 5 Gracies | TigerBelly 286 w/ Khalyla
Lex Fridman Podcast : Bobby Lee: Comedy, Skyrim, Sex Robots, Love, Fame, and Power | #287
Flagrant 2 : Joe Rogan Gets HIGH & Flagrant
················································
Tigerbelly fan account, if you love the show enjoy the clips. TigerBelly is a no-holds-barred arena for half truths, social no-nos, and animal behavior-featuring comedian Bobby Lee and his best friend Khalyla. Every Thursday. TigerBelly is available on KZbin, iTunes, and most other apps where fine podcasts are found. To watch full episodes go here: / tigerbelly

@@jspur22 No, it's too late for Carlos to redeem his comedy career, and that's what he's still desperately trying to cling onto. THAT'S why he's still in denial, even after all these years: the vain hope that Carlos could still comeback from this if he could just somehow convince us it was all one big misunderstanding. Ok, here's why Bobby is having so much trouble with this. Ned did a lot for bobby, especially while Ned was banking and stealing jokes. Bobby is terrified of not appreciating Ned because he would never want to take him for granted like that and oust him after what Ned has done for him especially when Bobby was broke. Ned knows this, and plays off it but will see how far he can bend the truth, even right in front of Bobby, and what you're seeing from Bobby is he's done sitting there being like..... "Dude, you're seriously still not gonna not admit what you did... After everything I've been through because of it?" But, he still never exposes Ned's lies while Ned sits there with that igor like smile on his face. Man that guy is weak & creepy...

Agreed! The only reason Ned came on Tigerbelly was because he thought Bobby would soft ball him and get him back in Comedy’s good graces. He wasn’t thinking Bobby would ask him hard hitting questions. And that he would try to get answers to why he stole and bumped comedians and disregarded the fact he took spots from several Comedians every time spending HOURS on stage when he went to the Comedy Store.

At the beginning of KZbin there was multiple compilation videos made by random people of Carlos' bit and then the original bit told by the writer of the joke showing he had done it numerous times and from famous comedians down to unknowns. Ari was indeed one of these comedians and at the time was answering phones and working the door struggling to find his place.

LOL, none of those three comedians are on the same level as Bill Hicks. Sorry JR, love your podcast, but there is are tiers of comedians; Lee and Rogan are on the just above the Roast Tier. Greg Giraldo was funnier than Lee, Rogan, Shariff and any of that group. Again JRE podcast, the best. Bobby Lee on Mad TV hilarious! Not even close to Chappelle, Hicks, Sam and even Gottfried. They are the Cheer leaders of Comedy.
