This may not be the greatest song ever written. But it is the greatest song ever performed live.

Why is this audience not reacting to this gorgeous music?? Just standing there. How can they not be moving to the beat?
@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life3 ай бұрын
You took the exact words right out of my mouth. He had an audience that was filled with people that were 95% rhythmless, without soul or life to them. They all acted like clueless dead husks. Why nobody engaged with him by vocalizing along with him is mind-boggling to me. They were so stiff and devoid of feeling that in order to interact with the audience and get them to feel his music he had to use their bodies as drums so that they could at least experience the beat and rhythm. I wish I could have been there to interact with him so I could look him in the eye while following his lead and vocalize and harmonize along with him. I would have done it without looking away and giggling in embarrassment like these people did. What an incredible performance by Bobby McFerrin and a wonderful opportunity given to these lucky audience members who were not able to appreciate or understand the gift he was trying to give them.

Laymen doesn't understand the level of genius Bobby operates on here. He literally has to dumb it down to connect. Wish I could have felt this energy live. ❤

The man is a LUNATIC, but it looks like his shows are a lot of fun. Super bright musically, too, a serious classical director. It's cool when somebody virtually creates a new mode to make music, and rare.

Talent....We need more in the World Today
@MrJdsenior2 жыл бұрын
John, LOOK AROUND dude, there is TONS of talent out there. Here are a VERY few examples. You just have to step outside the pop nonsense, for the most part, though there is even some pop talent there, like Bruno Mars. I literally have hundreds of examples of this kind of stuff, and every other kind, from every other musical genre, in my YT playlist. Yes, I spend way too much time of YT, one of those retirement perks: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJzLh6ueoNt5eNU kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6PbkpWBjJtmmM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZjOe3ykZcaheK8 A couple stepping out to some Piano: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2WqiYiojtl4sLs I put you in at some high pressure turbo mode here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX_Pk2Nshr5_rKM Here's some awesome bass work, actually doing a FAST banjo solo on the bass, stick with it the tempo gets WAY faster, increasing significantly twice: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZWomWSvgbOAgpo I saved one of the best out there, MHO, for last. How about some microtonal stuff, singing entire chords and chord progressions between notes all over the place, and completely musical? Without the near perfect perfect pitch this guy possesses, not to the note, but to very low percent 'even' intervals between them, you couldn't do this stuff at this level. He's pretty much the pinnacle musician's musician out there, and plays several instruments at a high professional level, from three different families, percussion, strings, and keyboards. This includes one instrument he and a fellow he met at MIT while he was presenting a masterclass there developed together. Winner of two Grammys in his low twenties, with pieces sung and edited in his bedroom. The first piece is well known, especially to those with a few decades behind them. The second piece he modulates from G to G HALF sharp in four notes and back out in about the same number, and I DEFY you to find it. I used to sing, a lot, non professionally but fairly competently, and I never heard it. The way he does it is brilliant, actually tuning some chords properly, and de-tuning portions of others by microtonal amounts. He calls them the four magic chords. :-) The musicians in his audiences are blown away by it. When he plays the piano during the modulated to NO key interval, you can sure tell he's singing dead in the middle of the cracks. It is jarring. And his playfulness is infectious, no egotistical nonsense, just love of music and support of everyone. I've heard PhDs in music say they followed his self generated new music theory extensions about 3/4s of the way in, then he just lost them. Kind of a new Mozart in different and similar respects. A once in a generation type, according to some of the very best musicians out there from many different genres, the Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Stevie Wonder type crowd. This guy's talent, in several respects, is truly off the charts. He will sing any crazy scale with no reference, just in the middle of an interview, dead on pitch, or break any interval of notes into pretty much however many pieces he likes, like "here's a fifth in 7 equal steps", or beat 31 beats against 32 on his chest, 'perfectly'. His brain is just wired differently, there is no other way I can think of to explain it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKbEaWZnqtmqg68 The G to G half sharp piece, In the Bleak Midwinter: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4G9n2euaNqCl8U And example of a cool piano piece, with loops, one you probably know, but you've never heard it like this:

I just rediscovered this song last night after watching the movie Cocktail with Tom Cruise. That soundtrack on cassette was my life back when I was 12. I used to hate this song. At 41, I guess I am now the proper age to fully enjoy it? Whatever. Anyway, Bobby McFerrin wrote a jam that will withstand the test of time long after you or I are but mere worm feed.

The moment I first saw your video, it made my heart flutter and made me happy. I am sitting by the window with dark eyes like the night colored by the stars in the night sky, reminiscing on faded memories and watching your videos. As I watch your wonderful videos, my heart keeps falling over and over as if it is moving. It seems that there is a KZbinr who wants to become a fan after a long time. There are emotions that cannot be expressed in words in this short video. You have the ability to make your videos instantly stunning and attractive. Thank you to the algorithm that made it possible to watch good videos, I hope that you will succeed as you have worked hard for your dreams. In the KZbin world, meeting your video is like an accidental meeting among countless videos like grains of sand on a wide beach. Your video shines the most in my KZbin window right now. KZbin is flowing endlessly on my small channel boat over the huge and far-off sea. I am very fortunate to have found your video while rowing a small paddle and going endlessly and endlessly. In this harsh KZbin world, even if the cold rain and wind blows and everything falls like leaves, I will always leave only your video in my memory. Your video is the best video. In the night sky, in the wide KZbin world like the Milky Way, I accidentally met your video as beautiful as a star and enjoyed it as if in a dream. It makes my heart flutter because I have a feeling that your video, which I feel was made with unsparing sincerity, will soon receive a lot of love. Whether it was a coincidence or a coincidence based on an unknown and mysterious algorithm, I opened my KZbin window and your thumbnail caught my eye.
