You have a keen ear for Premium Vocalists. They both were excellent. Bobby Darin truly was at the level few reach. Bobby Rydell right there as well. I knew Bobby Rydell and his wife Camille, 1st wife, she passed due to breast c. I adore her. Many sweet memories. Best Thoughts ...

An example of a translation that works but is very, very different than the original poetic Italian lyrics of In the Blue Painted Blue (Nel Blu di pinto di blu--Volare). But I so like it.

Como kids Rydell about being an honorary Italian. in reality, Rydell was just as Italian as Como. Rydell was the son of Jennie (Sapienza) and Adrio "Al" Ridarelli. In this clip Rydell was only 18 years old.
@tangobango96538 жыл бұрын
Bobby Rydell was easily the best singer of the 60's Teen Idols, except for Elvis. He should have had many more hits, but the British Invasion sidetracked him. He's out there still singing tho, at age 74 I believe?
@thomaseastmond84557 жыл бұрын
Ever hear of Darin? I think Rydell ranks second only behinds Darin. Presley didn't do much in the sixties, he mainly starred in movies.
@jstasur6 жыл бұрын
Rydell was locked into a crappy independent Philadelphia label, Cameo Records. Although he didn't do badly, its untold how much better he might've done with a major label and better representation.
@RockinRedRover Жыл бұрын
Fun clip, and a great rendition of this fine song - but no way is it "live", he's lip-synching to the record, just like most of the tv shows of this era, he's not even trying to seem "live" by holding or wearing a mic. At the end of the song, the backing music clearly changes as the inhouse orchestra tacks a clumsy segue onto the end. Tnanks for posting it tho.

How silly for Perry Como to make Bobby an "honorary Italian" when not only was Bobby ALREADY an Italian-American but his family had arrived from the "Old Country" later than had Como's. ;-)

Como was condescending to Bobby. I wish he could have been at least half as respectful as Dick Clark was to him.
@jonathanwald457211 жыл бұрын
Catch the line "I'm going to make you an honorary Italian," by Perry Como. Regrettable that the fashion of the times demanded that the young Robert Ridarelli had to eviscerate his very ethnic identity in order to promote his career. Must have been an uncomfortable moment for both Rydell and Como...
@JavaScriptJolt8 жыл бұрын
The line is suppose to be funny because Bobby Rydell IS Italian. I think, at least at that time, most of the U.S. population knew that he is Italian. And one of his biggest hits was "Volare"...enviserated how?
