IMHO, MISA's countermelodies always seem to not only add volume to the sound but often adds an additional tapestry of sound that adds to the beauty of the song.

There's is such a lot to like ... no, to love about this song. It's brimming with so many small great musical moments; it's almost unbelievable that they bring them together in just one song. But should we really be surprised to have another jewel added to their brilliant songbook? I think not, because this is Band-Maid, one of the most reliable bands on the (hard-)rock circuit. Their signature trademark: highest aesthetic quality ... and that always.

As much as anyone else, Band Maid consistently plays to the casual musical listener, as well the sophisticated -- and adventureous -- musical performers and critics. Again, as much as anyone, your critiques show the same astounding breadth of applicability -- you meaningfully reach most of the members of a potentially wide-ranging audience. You touch upon struture, juxtaposition, theory and practice, points of technical performance, et cetera, but do so in a way that is both precise (citing numerous examples) and understandable. You -- and Band Maid -- consistently do what most cannot uniformally do. Fortunately, you -- and Band Maid -- are here to show everyone that theorhetical goals and achievement in practice can often be one and the same. All it takes is intellect, creativity, knowledge, technique, hard work, organizational skills and the ability to communicate. Hmm, that's actually a lot on the table at once. Maybe this is why only a relative few consistently achieve success in this area.

Great explanation of the half time feel, and how it's really NOT a tempo change. It's just quarter notes and half notes instead of 16ths and 8ths. Virtually every other reactor calls it a tempo change - it's not.

Kanami is a genius composer. Kanami had this to say about FORBIDDEN TALE: "What is 'life'?, 'being alive'? etc. I produced this song with the biggest theme in the history of BAND-MAID. A lot has happened over the past three and a half years. It made me think. What does it mean to live? Is there such a thing as heaven? How was your life like? Were you happy along the way? The proof you lived, If I could represent your life with this song... as such, I included such a message, I created this song in the hope of leaving a song of what I think of 'life' is. I did not talk to the vocalist SAIKI (who wrote the lyrics) about the theme in depth, but the lyrics brought tears to my eyes. I will be happy if this song will remain in your heart." PS MISA was playing her signature bass (the Black Smoker TM-BETA JMB5 MISA) which the luthier company Black Cloud gifted her last year.

Saiki desired that the song played out like multiple classic tales in one book. Each section is akin to turning pages. The Maids facilitated Saiki's vision wonderfully !❤

The songs already released earlier last year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. The music and execution in Epic Narratives is sophisticated and delightfully listenable. But the lyrics and concepts they're based on catapult EN to epic levels. Thx, Bob! 🤘😉🎀

A good song. Not one of my favorites from them, probably mid tier for me, but still good. The most noticeable part, I think, is Akane's drums. They released another video since this came out, for the song "Zen". Not to be confused with the Nemophila song "Zen", which is all harsh vocals.

Leave you wanting more, that's what they do with that final burst of energy! I think I am experiencing a phenomenon under the influence of BAND-MAID. It is the situation where you adore the musicians for the objectively amazing and inspiring things that they do, but do not love the style... and because of their influence, you begin to love and accept the style more! I have heard that being said by others in relation to LOVEBITES as well. For me, that shall be the BAND-MAID effect!

It’s a good song, but after listening to the band over several years, it seems to just blend in with their other songs. There are many areas with similar notes to other songs. With that being said, as usual the musicianship is quite good, but that’s kind of expected from them. I just felt it didn’t differentiate that much.

@ I only mentioned that the song felt similar to others by them. That’s not unexpected when one member is the primary composer as they must write within their capabilities. I indicated it was still a good song, but I disagree it’s a best ever, probably in the mediocre range. But if it’s more to you, I’m good with that.

@@guygourley2411You're not wrong, this and "Forbidden Tale" definitely give me even-more-honed Band-Maidism vibes. And some people love that, while others want them to do something unexpected out of left field. The great thing imho about this band is that, given their history, they will do the complete reverse of this sometime in the near future 😊
@cholatse67453 күн бұрын
Yes, the same thing over and over again. That's what I call an assessment with depth. My ears hear something completely different. After 10 years of a creative and diverse output that not to many other bands can match, Band-Maid is still one of the most creative and surprising bands. Anyone who composes music for so long and so productively develops certain signature sounds over time, which is what makes a good band or composer also unmistakable. I know immediately that it's B-M when I hear something and I'm still surprised every time. If I just look at the last two releases, "Unleash" and "Epic Narratives" only, I find a span of sounds and ideas that only very few bands manage to achieve in their entire career. And if someone tries to tell me that From Now on, Memorable, Influencer, Corralium, Toi et Moi, forbidden Tale, The one, Shambles, to name just a few, all sound the same, then I cannot take such a statement seriously, even with the best will in the world. I would like to recommend listen closer or bring a little bit more substantial evidence for this thesis, knowing that the thesis will not stand up to closer scrutiny. But I guess I know from where the wind blows here too, this pattern is also always the same, btw 😊. It is mainly the same small but loud group of nostalgics who been complaining loudly on all channels that it is no longer as good as it used to be on JBI and WD. I think every era of B-M evolution has its own specific appeal and every stylistic expression is 100% B-M. There is no more real B-M or less real B-M, but standing still has never been the band's mindset. Some people have trouble keeping up with them, it can happen. But there are still plenty of bands out there that are constantly recycling themselves. I would like to hear a few current names of bands that have demonstrated a comparable level of diversity over 11 years of creation. I'm curious. The only one that springs to my mind might be Gacharic Spin.
