We absolutely love Arran. There’s so much to see and do and they are very welcoming to motorhomers. We spent two weeks on the island earlier in the year and still want to go back as there are places we didn’t see. It really is Scotland in miniature! Stunning.

This is very interesting to a couple of life-long Winnipegers . We live in East Kildonan . There is also North , a West , and an Old Kildonan . When I was young I used to drink in the Kildonan Hotel . A bunch of people from that part of Scotland were put on ships at gunpoint and sent to the wilderness of Canada in 1812 and 1813 . They were called the Selkirk Settlers . After the Lord Earl of Selkirk sponsored them . They were not welcomed by the French and mixed race Metis . The indigenous people who's chief was Peguis helped them a lot in things like ice fishing . - 40 f /c was quite common in those days . How they survived bitter cold drought and grasshoppers eating their crops , I'll never know . They were helped a lot , and when people fled Iceland and volcanic disaster later in that century , they were in turn shown the ropes by the indigenous people . We have a large Scottish community , and a fairly good sized Icelandic community .

Well that’s a convenient walk to the pub so even better! Hope Aileen is much better must have been such a shock for you all Remember the time we got the bus on Arran we waited 2 hours in Lochranza then bus arrived and he really zipped around those lanes but the highlight was seeing some minky whales and the driver pulled over for us to see them! The first corner at the start of the video we met cars on that, had been quiet until we got to the tight bit typically. It’s a lovely place - especially when the sun shines. Lovely outlook from the pub isn’t it. We do love the campsite, with Pladda and Ailsa Craig to look out across and so much wildlife and sea life. I found some nasty holes in the reeds when walking back along! Poor Aileen what an awful thing to happen. ❤ Thank goodness there wasn’t more damage, bad enough as it was. Great to hear good service from the hospital. Imagine it put a damper on your holiday. Shame about the rain on the last day. All the very best, David & Rachel 👍

Some nice sites up there re traveling on ferries etc ,jenny maybe right the rain can be a sign of rougher seas, though, as when it rains, the barometric pressure typically decreases because low-pressure systems are associated with rainy weather. This decrease in pressure can indeed affect sea states. Lower pressure can lead to slightly higher sea levels due to reduced atmospheric pressure pushing down on the water surface. This, in turn, can contribute to potentially larger waves and rougher sea conditions. Jennys' observations about the rain might be right .anyway enjoy ,best wishes to Aileen and friends.

I bet the caravan site put that no camping sign up, why does everyone try and charge for parking at tourist spots, it doesn't happen here in Denmark.

It only applies to the grass not the layby. There is no charge for parking there. The campsite isn't allowed to put signs up, only councils can do that.
