I have some concerns over your review: - if you leave the key in the car the doors don’t automatically lock when you walk away so your passengers won’t get locked in the car! - if you press the phone icon in the infotainment system it will take you to CarPlay from anywhere you are currently on, in your case it was climate control! - not sure if Peugeot offered you a press pack with hints and tips, I’d suggest you should’ve read this or asked questions if you weren’t sure. As with all new cars technology is constantly changing. - lane assist is a safety feature that is there to support the driver and you should be using your indicators to compliment the systems. You shouldn’t be recommending anyone to turn a safety feature off.

I didn’t put my comment on here to criticise Bob in his work only to point out a few things that should anyone have done there homework before reviewing a product, they would be given clear facts. If anything, I only wanted to help him and others with some of the comments that were made by Bob. So Bob, if you’re reading this comment I hope you appreciate that it’s coming from a good place and not to undermine you!

Great review Bob! RE/ Lane keep assist, most cars will let you “jump” back into your lane if you indicate left (saw you didn’t on the review, hence why it tries to keep you on the overtake lane). Worth giving it a go on the next review! :)

I like it, Peugeot have come out swinging with their latest design aesthetic across the board, and they've made a great call by sharing ice and ev in the 208. Not everyone wants an ev that screams its an ev.
@MiniEggs1999
@MiniEggs1999 4 жыл бұрын
In the UK electricity is about 13p per kwh so the cost of the energy is the same as petrol/diesel for the same amount of energy it's just the EV's are about twice as efficient as ICE but as you say 200k ~ 5 is about the equivalent of 120mpg in terms of cost so if you are spending 1000 per year on fuel you are going to save about 600 with a bit of own driving.

Excellent Review. I like the tone of your reviews, so please keep it up. I will echo one comment below, in regards to LKA, if you indicate back to your lane, it will let you go across with no resistance. I would also raise one other point, regarding the AC being touch screen only. It is climate control, so if left in auto, once you have temp set, you shouldn't need to adjust. Hence it is no longer an issue. Keep up the good work.

PSA ticks all the right boxes with its first 12 EV's (incl LCVs). Looks, quality, drivetrains, reliability (#1 in the UK according to JP Power where Audi, Jag and Bimmer are rock bottom), interior and desirability. And, PSA refrained from bragging about it VW style. So all good. One thing is needed though: higher capacity batteries to avoid dropping back in the anxiety range, sorry, race. And guess what: battery upgrades are scheduled for 2021/2022.

Big thing that drew me to the e-208 (besides the looks) is the 100kW DC charging rate over the 50kW of competitors like the Zoe. But the Zoe wins on the 3 phase AC charging if that's what you are going to use (Up to 22kW for Zoe vs 7kW as standard on e-208). The door open alarm gets me ever time I go to open the gate at my ould lads place. Easier way back to the Android Auto/Car Play menu is touch the screen with three fingers. I beleive the 3D display is standard on all EV models in the 208 range.

I like how you emphasise the point regarding speed versus range of any vehicle Bob, but the difference sadly still stems from the charge times and infrastructure around electric, but I'm very keen to get into an electric vehicle at some point sooner rather than later. If you put "range" to one side, as a modern diesel lover, I think that electric has some very similar traits to larger capacity diesels, such as the torque and effortlessness.

*Attracted to this review when titled **_affordable_** however consider that description totally wrong, around €15k might consider. However at €32,500 a no no. Today in my Mercedes 2019 B200CDi AMG with all the tricks, did a 302 mile (486 km) trip at 72.4 MPG on a ¼ of a tank of fuel and still had enough for a further 458 Miles. The Mercedes MBUX System is just fantastic and the Virtual Reality Sat-Nav. Just say increase heat by 2° and it will comply along with hundreds of other commands. You can even say "phone Beefeater at Peterborough" and next minute you are connected "How can I help you ?" etc etc. Cheaper running costs are a huge delusion unless you have access to 'free charging' - And even if able to charge at home the lowest rate you can achieve is Economy 7 overnight at around 5p per KWh. On Motorway Services the cost can be as high as 35p per KWh which when worked out makes it in fact more expensive than any car capable of 45 mpg or better.*

The petrol is likely to be super frugal already. Diesels are made for ling distance, steady speed, low performance driving. @@BobFlavinVideo Yup, aware of the effect of driving fast in an EV (I drive a Zoe ZE50). Had this in mind when I upgraded but those back seats were a deal breaker and stories of really poor efficiency were circling. Thing is, I did 69 miles pelting down a motorway the other day in my Zoe at 70mph. The absolute lowest range I could have managed was 160. It doesn't have that much of a bigger battery that the e208. 120 miles is disappointing. I'd much prefer the Ioniq, test drove it recently and found it to be an excellent car. 5 year warranty against the Peugeots 3 and much more suitable as a family car. The ioniq is the most efficient EV on the road.

Peugeot should be ashamed of themselves. The want Mrs Pattycake to spend 30 odd thousand pounds on a overpriced Ev and wont supply you with a free cable to charge at home. They want £200 extra for this cable. Its a total disgrace and pure greed. They should stick the cable where the sun doesn't shine !

@@BobFlavinVideo Zoe has a much longer range. Forget the stated range for a mo but the Zoe gets an easy - and I mean not even trying - 150-160 miles at 70mph. Your 208 was getting 120. Which is poor. You can see that they're using third party motors and parts while Renault have been designing their own. That 7 year head start has given them a LOT of additional efficiency. If we didn't need 2 cars (we do) the Zoe could easily be our only car. Not sure the same could be said for the e208.

Could you please clarify three things for me as follows: (1) I note that it has both an electronic brake plus a parking brake - bewildering. When coming to a halt, say, at traffic lights for example, does that mean that one must therefore employ both the electronic brake AND the parking brake each and every time...? (2) still on the subject of that front P button, must that device also be used when, for instance, changing from N to B mode via the gearshifter? (3) please also explain, and essentially in the simplest language, how p r e c i s e l y to operate the speed limiter (forget cruise control). I ask because, stupidly in my view, it's placed behind rather than on the steering wheel where you can't see the darn thing... After the simplicity of my Zoe the e208's functionality all sounds and looks immensely complicated. Over to you on all three issues.

1.What cost the battery ??????? What cost the charger if it is going bad? Can it be repair it ??? I think they miss the point on the electric car questions here. Take for example Peugeot ion. The car after 8-10 years develop charger problem. Charger to change 4300 Euros because you cannot buy separately the parts to reaper it! Who would buy a car when the tire is flat and in the workshop you are told that the gearbox have to be replaced with the tire because they work together ???!!!! Everything is vin coded so you cannot buy used parts and replaced. Battery last about 15 years and cost until yet 10.000 Euros! Even if a small problem occurs with the battery you must change all the battery. So consider to give after 15 years 15.000 Euros for maintains. That’s no Green driving! This car cost more to drive than a normal gasoline car

Bob, don't get too excited - it's just a Peugeot 😜. It will fall apart in 6 years, OK, say 8 years. Several things put me off this car - the infotainment interface is rubbish - I agree with you, basic functions work best with a physical switch or knob. I also hate the current fashion for gloss black plastic - totally inappropriate in a car. Best EV interior in my opinion is the BMW i3 - like being in a Swedish apartment, minimal but classy, and no gloss black in sight!

Well, at least you can open the rear doors in the Pug without asking the front people to get out first. I honestly don't know how that's considered safe.
@simonreeves2017
@simonreeves2017 4 жыл бұрын
Nigel Rowe - The front passengers don't have to get out first in the i3, but you do need to open the front doors before the rears will open. It's not the i3's best feature, but less inconvenient that a 2 door design, which would result in much longer doors that are a pain in car parks - as any owner of a 2 door 4 seat car can attest.

€30,000 is AFFORDABLE?!?!?! Wow...you and I, and probably 75% of the EU, have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT view of what 'affordable' is. The vast majority of consumers will go for a 'regular' 208 @ €15,000 - with TWICE the range and a 5 minute 'recharge' time at the pump. Nope...there simply is no value in a car that charges DOUBLE to get HALF the range, and all because they ripped out the motor to install batteries. "Pay more, Get less"??? Consumers aren't that stupid.
@davidwillis8492
@davidwillis8492 2 жыл бұрын
@jaro essa - I sort of agree (in that €30k is not affordable!), but you have to remember that the petrol 1.2litre 130hp 208 in the same spec, is also €31,290 here in Ireland. So the difference like-for-like is only €2k after grants. The issue is we don’t have very many “affordable “ cars in Ireland!!
