I’ve just got my 2023 model, they have changed the gear shifter, it’s like a flat carbon one now instead of it sticking up like a bmw shifter, I think the newest model is brilliant fun, I’ve just got the GT E208, it’s my first electric car and wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I do, mines in that beautiful red, I actually love the steering wheel with the GT logo on it like it’s the best sports wheel in its class, the only thing I haven’t got is the heated seats, the seat are actually better looking than the one in your review it’s like a grey and dark grey with the green stitching , much better design that the one your reviewing, I think they must of been updated,mi know they mate 2 different types of the e208 GT but I still love it, I have it for 3 years and then will watch your videos again for pointers on my next car, great video, I don’t know if I need to manually update my radio system because you know how you have image the image art for radio 1234 it only gives me the image for smooth fm lol, every other favourite just says the name of the radio station.

I know this is an old review but I watched it all the way through prior to ordering my e208GT as I trust your channel more than any other! Loved the car on a test drive (albeit quite short) and it looks sensational. Even now in June 2022 still to me the best supermini EV and will be perfect as our family runabout doing around 150 miles a week. Only problem is the 18 week delivery time. Thanks for the great reviews!

I love mine E208 GT it’s beautiful , luckily enough I ordered 2 weeks back on Friday and I got it on the Tuesday the following week only a few days wait because I had one of the brand new one off the forecourt from Peugeot in derby very quick turn around if I waited from the factory they said up to 4 months so just took the red one off the lot, didn’t think much of the colour but when I picked it up and it had been washed it was a lovely dark Perl essence paint that cost me £600 more but it’s like a dark sparkly Ferrari red

Buying the car secondhand (a 2021 Allure model with a low mileage, 8-year warranty on the battery), at long last my first electric car, and it did feel great to drive compared to my previous petrol one, and more punchy even in eco mode! As I don't have any comparison points as to driving electric cars, I'll first stay in eco, plus B mode to see how much I can get out of the batteries for the daily commute. Thanks for this review BTW!

Actually you don't have to manually return from the temp screen. If you access the temp screen by pressing one of the side temp displays, just wait a couple of seconds after adjusting, and the display will autoamtically jump back to whatever you had it showing before adjusting the temperature. Easy peasy, but it seems no reviewers have had the time to figure this out. Good review otherwise :)

I didn't have any issues with the brakes. The regenerative braking is very good so one doesn't really have to use the brakes all that much. I have a Gti and this e208 was a courtesy car.

I just set the temperature and leave it on Auto and forget about it. The only time I adjust the temperature is when I use the demist function. When I use sat nav I just select the navigation option for the instrument panel.

Citroen has the same system with the tem display eating up the sides of the screen. If you can't slide up an down the temp indifferent of where you are, on the permanent display of the temp itself, the design is simply not good enough and a chance overlooked, or initially meant as a solution and ultimately dropped without redesigning the interface to free up that space. Temperature is one of the things you need to be able to adjust and having it there in screen is brilliant only if you can adjust it from there. Hope you missed it and that is actually how it works but given your excellent reviews I am afraid it is as bad as it now seems.

Sadly the parking assist has actually been dropped from the range, as has the dual zone climate. Production been a bit of a nightmare for Peugeot, still haven't got ours after ordering in June.

Gosh, that is a long time. Yet I suppose COVID hasn't helped either. Lots of car factories had to close for obvious reasons and they are taking their time getting back up to speed, especially as they will have to adhere to new working guidelines.

When comparing why not include the Hyundai Ioniq? It has the same range same battery size same power and a bit bigger and better equipped? Leather Memory seats etc. Its also cheaper to lease and to buy if you shop around.
@AutoEV4 жыл бұрын
The Ioniq isn't in the same market sector as the 208, as it is a bigger car. We aren't comparing all EVs with each other just because they are electric, but by market sector and their closest rivals, just as we wouldn't compare the Hyundai i30 with a petrol 208 even if they were the same price as they are different cars. That being said, the e208 os still a better car to drive than the Ioniq, so if we had, we would still rate the Peugeot higher.

I'm getting an ex demo Allure version next week and I anticipate, please tell me whether or not you agree, that on 16 inch wheels the ride quality will be even better than on the 17 inch GT version you drove. About the brakes... You echo many other commentators in the remarks you make in this connection and it greatly worries me because I'll have a near 300 mile homewards drive from the dealer and I'm mighty concerned that I could easily have an accident from what you describe as the "woolly" nature of the brakes. Yes, I'll probably get used to them in time but that initial long drive exercises me hugely. It so happens that I'm part-exchanging a 2020 Renault Zoe for it and, as you mention, the brakes are superb on that vehicle; I suspect the brake 'feel' difference once I sample the e208 will be akin to the contrast between The Shard and a shed ....
@AutoEV3 жыл бұрын
Hi David. First of all, thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. Let's deal with your queries one by one. First of all, ride quality. In my experience, it's the marketing/styling department that insist on larger diameter alloys, whereas engineers favour a smaller size. I remember buying a Porsche 996 when they had first come out from a trader friend of mine, and when I bemoaned it didn't have the desirable 18" alloys, but standard 17" ones, he simply replied, "That's how Porsche intended it to be". Another example was the E46 M3s always drove better on 18" alloys, but the trade loved the 19's. Anyway, I am digressing slightly. Theory and experience suggests that you will get a slightly better ride on the 16" alloys, but that also depends on the tyre fitted. The bigger the sidewall profile the more cushioning you have. It should be a bit softer, but it won't be night & day different. The ride quality isn't to bad on the GT, but I haven't driven one on the smaller wheels, so it would be wrong of me to tell you for definite. As far as the brakes go, you have nothing to fear. I know that the brakes aren't as good in the 208 as perhaps the Zoe or MINI, and therefore I say so in my review. To most people (and I mean this with the utmost of respect to everyone) the difference will be marginal. Please don't worry about it. I like a lot of "feel" in my brakes as I have spent most of my career driving high-performance cars. Put it this way, I would have no problem with my wife driving a long distance in the e208. It's just my job to point out the little differences I encounter with each car. I hope that answers you queries, but please do get in touch if there is anything I can help you with. I think you have bought one of the best small EVs on the market, and I really hope you have many enjoyable miles in it! Thanks again for watching, and stay with us for more! Remember we also have a website and magazine too! Kind regards Bryan @ AutoEV
@DavidHughes-op6zl3 жыл бұрын
Hello Bryan Thank you not simply for your enlightening reply but for being so fulsome. Wheely appreciated. (You see, you're not the only one prone to indulgent wordplay; on which digressing note - and this is true, not a joke - only this very day from a friend in Laos I received several pictorial examples of foreigners' amusing distortion of the English language, the prize one for me being a local greengrocer advertising yellow fruit as "Banana Tree Dicks!") Back to the e208. I'm especially grateful for your convincing comments about its brakes given, repeat, the lengthy journey I face in an unfamiliar car and the particular characteristics under discussion. I'm a thousand years older than your goodself and I recall owning, over a ten year period, two Ford Ka-s which both had an alarming amount of 'travel' in the brake pedal and, as I mentioned previously, I daresay that with the Pug it will eventually be the case, as with the old Ka, that I'll adjust to the different 'feel' but, notwithstanding, it's the initial 'getting to grips' scenario that's been worrying me. As with you, I too like a solid 'answer' beneath my brake foot. The fact you thoughtfully mentioned that you'd have no hesitation in your wife driving the e208 on a 'long haul' in this connection is the one part of your narrative that most sets my mind at rest. Even so I'm going to gingerly get acquainted with the new beast, the test driving mercifully being a taster ahead of the extended trek homewards. I've been additionally trying to reassure myself by focusing on the fact that of course in regenerative mode c/o a BEV one doesn't use the brakes nearly as much as when driving an ICE alternative, which, along with your encouraging remarks on the subject, does much to calm my apprehension. Thanks again for your painstaking response. Reciprocal regards David

A very interesting and informative review, and I was pleased to hear mention of the Park Assist feature - however, although Park Assist was specified as standard on the GT, it seems to be slow to appear. I believe the e-2008 has the P/A control button mounted at the rear of the gear selector, whereas the e-208 GT, as tested by you, did not - does it have another control button placed elsewhere please?

Perhaps, but I am old-fashioned and like to feel in control, and to me, the brakes just let the side down on what is a really good car. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. We appreciate it.

0-60 is not just over 8 seconds according to Peugeot it is under and in real life is under. You are quoting the official 0-62 mph time, which is over 8 seconds and in the real world under if one person in the car with an empty boot. ie, near the unladen / kerb weight and not Max Gross / revenue weight. Reviewers should read the Media Pack a bit more closely.
@AutoEV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your contributions George. We don't get media packs with all the cars, and this was eth case with the Peugeot, so its down to a bit or research through Peugeot's website. Its is a very interesting comparison with the 208 and Corsa as, like I said, you'd think they'd feel much closer than they actually do. I personally preferred the 208 as it felt like it was just a more polished product for the money. However, and I want to be very clear on this, the Corsa is a really good car, and they have done a sterling job in such a short space of time. If they epand teh range a bit and had an entry-level car at under £25k, then (much like the MINI) that would be the one I would recommend. But at £30k, I just feel it trails the e208 and Zoe by not being special enough. But, it is still a great car, and without doubt the best Corsa I have driven. And I like Corsas!
