that is true -remember he was drafted as a defenseman but your right he threw some vicious body checks - very tough guy - the story of him beating up on Probert is ridiculous but doesn't discount the fact that he took on many much bigger men many nights and never backed down, Wendel was a hockey player first and foremost - he got ruined by bad management and coaching - think about it - he is the # 1 overall pick in the draft and you use up that skill on fighting guys much bigger night after night - i think we are the same age i think he was drafted in 84 or 85 - and he was a shell of himself by 1990 - isn't that when he got traded for Sundin ? @@nthdegree1269 the truth is he was a pretty easy going guy most of the time it took him a little bit to get into the mood usually and once the other guy had taken a few shots he would be ready to fire - he was a tough enough kid that he could do that - Ive heard russ courtnall say how wendel kicked the shit out of probert over the past couple of years - and i have been thinking -really I'm the same age and i watched most of those games - i don't remember that at all but Courtnall would have been on the ice - so who was i to say - now i see what they are talking about - the way its described by leaf fans is completely detached from reality . I give plenty of props to Wendel - he was giving away at least five inches and probably 30 lbs or more - he was an awfully tough guy no question about that and that wrist shot was world class. Glad i got to see these - the way "Wendel could kick the shit out of Probert" is what i have heard - and its laughable to call it that way - in the one fight he jumped on him early kept his head down and hit him with some punches that is about there was too it - it is not like it even winded him - with the types of teams they have had since 67 - i guess you have to make the most out of the things you have to feel good for

Wendel sure could fight. That last uppercut by Probert in the 4th fight would have been messy if it connected. 2 beasts.

Probert was scary good. Clark had serious balls to take him on. He had to get inside and/or tie him up to have any success cause of the reach disadvantage.

3-1, Clark. First fight easy win Probert. Second fight easy win Clark. Third fight clean win Clark. Fourth fight narrow win Clark. Lots of head-to-head series went like that for Probert -- once guys learned how to fight him, they took him to the woodshed. Clark, Berube, Brashear, McCarthy, etc.
