Would have liked to have voted but By Law 6.3 establishes a 1-year membership period before being allowed the privilege. While that restriction may be allowable under WA state nonprofit provisions, I'm not certain if it's allowed in Delaware, where I believe USPSA is incorporated. Regardless, it's sad to pay dues, be a member under By Law 4.2 and seemingly with voting rights under Article 6, only to be denied in 6.3.

No dog in this hunt (well, I do shoot SC), but requiring the pres. to have an RO cert sounds like the only function of the Board is to administer rules and claw in sponsorship. Think of the situation SC center fire handgun competitors find themselves in while the board is mired in this intrigue. There won't be any realignment of SC divisions as center fire participation sinks under the weight of low ready shooters. At least get ride of the "combined" category in PS.

Regarding the financial impropriety, are we expecting criminal charges to be filed?

Which law enforcement agency or district attorney would file those charges? What crime have they committed that is appropriate to their state where the HQ is at? What federal laws have they violated?

@felixdewinter3484 Well... that's the question. Isn't it?

@@williamcooper2496 this sounds like a civil suit. Let’s not jump to any conclusions about criminality here.

Violation of 501c statutes is a common one. That tends to be Administrative law unless you really fuck up for years. It’s a nice cash cow offense and is really common.

@@felixdewinter3484at minimum they have broken Delaware corporate law repeatedly so there's that. Fraud potentially and malfeasance on the part of directors. Their reincorporation and the 501c status shift wasn't done competently and that's federal. The breaking of bylaws and ignoring bylaws again is criminal for directors under the law of the state they were incorporated in (Delaware) the state the HQ is in and where the directors live isn't relevant here. The financial side COULD potentially be fraud given the org is a charity with tax exempt status. Federally. The employment stuff using fabricated allegations to remove board members is probably illegal in many states. Travis/Joe is civil cases and we will see about criminality after that civil case finishes.

I'd still like to know what Joe "the Rat" Ratkowski is claiming as damages in his suit. I'm pretty sure not being able to compete in matches is not gonna cut it.

@junderwood6633 maybe. Or maybe a judge just throws it out right away since being kicked out of a private organization based on that org's rules (no matter how shitty they are, or are interpreted) is not grounds for a lawsuit. I think it can go both ways, but my non professional opinion is it will go nowhere.

@junderwood6633 good question. I guess the BOD would say he disparaged the org or something like that. Maliciously hurt the org....whatever they want to say. And if a court thinks the BODs interpretation of the rules is reasonable than its likely they would toss the case. But let's say the court says no rules are broken. What's the best case scenario? His membership gets reinstated? I don't know the rules about discovery, but if he can only request info and correspondence that would concern his individual case, I'm not sure how much we would get out of that. It won't be zero, but it might not be that damning.

@@GLOCKsh00ter24if they didn't follow their bylaws properly that's a breach of contract, similarly if they broke the law on information handling and damaged his reputation slander and libel are a thing. Oh and of course the being banned for criticism of the board generally gets messy.
