And honestly, her behavior is normal for her. I don't think she has a solid sense of self. Thus she is always on stage when in public, always copying what she thinks is the right behavior, always acting in a way she thinks best serves her. I don't think it's deliberate. I don't think, given her emotional and mental health issues, that she can behave any other way. You see this constantly with her. She copies the clothing styles of people around her. She copies their hair styles - did you notice that the day after the psychologist testified that she showed up in court the next day with the exact same hairstyle the psychologist had. I don't think she knows her she is so she constantly tries to replicate the appearance of people she admires or feels have respect or credibility.

Again, it could just be her going from a regular emotional state and then immediately swinging into aggressiveness, anger, and impulsivity (hyperarousal) or into a depressive state (hypoarousal) which just means her window of tolerance is small. She maybe feels like when she’s in those emotional states that she’s not being her stable self, which doesn’t indicate it’s DID at all. Additionally, Dr. Curry didn’t diagnose her with that.

If you are totally and really abuse, why the he'll you even guesting on a TV program as if nothing happen. As someone who's dealt with a personality disorder, outbursts of emotion were always triggered by something I later found out were a result of my childhood experiences. Many such experiences I had stuffed very deep and shrugged them off as being trival. However, my inner psyche didn't recognize them as trival. I soon came to realize that my explosive reactions to situations that arose within my immediate family were because I was both physically and emotionally abused by my parents & my siblings. I felt abandoned and defenseless because my parents allowed the abuse by my siblings. Now, I've just established no contact with them because I've been labeled the family tale bearer that you can't do anything around that wont get leaked out into the family. I've learned not to react and not say anything. It feels wonderful to be in control of my emotions and walk away. I pray that Amber gets the help she needs.

I'm not a body language expert by any means. But, having traveled extensively with the Army, including living in Germany for 7 years, my natural Georgia accent has changed a little as well. It was not a voluntary change.....it just kind of crept up on me. I think it's possible that part of Johnny's accent is the fact that he speaks several different languages...including French, German and Spanish (just to name a few). Perhaps his accent comes from a combination of these different languages as well as the numerous places he has lived in the US.

edit: I agree with the changing accents. I've met expats abroad that have adopted the local accent after living in a country for decades. So, I think it's normal. I'm American but grew up in several countries when I was a child. I attended an international British school when we lived in Asia and then homeschooled with foreign teachers. When I came back to the states, my accent was more British, sometimes Singlish 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sometimes my other accents will come out like my Filipino accent. My grandma is Filipina and we speak her dialect. I think it might be a mixture of living abroad and also growing up in a multilingual home that affected my accent. The longer I watch this trial the more I see that Dr. Curry's correct. My sister is a pyschotherapist and although she can't diagnose based on videos, she can see Amber show signs of hpd.

I'm from Asia and immigrated to another Asian country 15yrs ago. I haven't fully learned the language because I mostly speak in English but the language I grew up with and spoke for over 25yrs is now so weak, I have to use English or else I mix it up with my native language and the other Asian language I'm now semi-familiar with. I think his accent has a more straightforward explanation. Actors with southern accents are often told or coached to ditch that accent, because it immediately creates an image in a movie watchers mind and places the actor squarely as a product of a certain region. I'm surprised there was a study in which people described a southern accent as sexy. I think more often it conjures up, perhaps unconsciously, the perception that the speaker is less educated or less sophisticated than people without accent. These are wrongful stereotypes of course but I think they are fairly common. So unless the actor is playing a southern character, they avoid that accent. You see this with many public figures who move out of the south to present themselves to a wider demographic. News casters, politicians, actors, public speakers. It's a distracting accent to many people. It wouldn't have been an asset in 99% of the roles Depp has played over the years. He's not acting when he uses it. It has simply become his voice. And frankly, I don't think the current 'accent' people keep commenting on is all that obvious. It comes across as fairly neutral and acceptable to the widest demographic. I don't understand all this attention to it.

I agree with you, @k m. I used to have to call the Kentucky area in a job I had, when I was 18 years old. The Kentucky accent is one of the most pronounced southern accents. I notice when he says the word "pain" you can hear it. His accent has diluted over the years and probably with exposures to other accents, and acting utilizing different ones. I myself have a southern accent coming from VA - and have been a little self-conscious if my accent would be interpreted as less educated. Leaving that area, my accent has lessened, but still at times a few words come out, revealing my true native accent.

I totally agree! I did a little acting with Julia Roberts family, Julia had to work hard to loose her southern accent! As an actor, you cannot be identified for where you are from, and you must learn many different accents!
