Hey guys, many of you are asking for the songs and think those are normal artists as found on itunes etc. which is basically wrong. The songs we used are licensed tracks for creatives - they cost tons of money and good ones are hard to find. And most of the time we don't save project data to the point we release the video due to high costs of storage and low income - the names of the tracks are gone then. The artists who produce the videos don't produce the tracks to become famous, they do it to earn money from creatives, advertising industrie and so on. If there are free artists who need promo, we always mention them. Thank you for watching our videos...

Alessandro Zuffi sumo is cheating in these contests. the weight barely moves with the legs so far apart.
@bmcorrier9 жыл бұрын
Alessandro Zuffi I'm with you on this. The guys who are shorter have much more power considering the top of the lift is a shorter distance off the ground. The taller guys have so much further to lift the barbell. It's tougher.
@57ashdot9 жыл бұрын
Alessandro Zuffi Yup, the distance is clearly shorter for sumo. No comparison, sumo style makes it easier to lift the same weight than standard deadlift
@wessteyrn77469 жыл бұрын
Alessandro Zuffi Nope Nope Nope...regardless of the type of deadlift they are doing, they are still doing the exercise called 'deadlift'. I do both the conventional and sumo. If you legs are not strong, you will struggle a lot on sumo, on the other side if your lower back is not strong enough for the conventional, you will struggle. If doing sumo was "cheating" and "as easy" as you all think, everybody would be doing sumo lol. The point here is to measure their strength so they chose to go with the type of deadlift they feel the strongest with.

Bench 305lb, squat 295lb and deadlift 455lb. I've haven't trained seriously for 3 years now but I'm still proud of those numbers (except my squat). Slowing getting back on the grind. Bench strength was easy to keep because of push-ups but squat and deadlift as gone way down.

Generally awesome video! But like others mentioned, I'm shocked that you guys let Tetzel attempt to pull a even heavier, when his lower back already rounded like crazy on the previous failed lift. Yes, you don't have perfect form when maxing out. But this but this degree of lower back rounding is much more than "imperfect form". It's basically asking for an injury. I would understand if there would be at least some big reward that makes it worth taking that huge risk.. if it would be during a important meet or something. But for a youtube video? Seems much smarter to think long term. Why take a huge risk, possibly have a back injury and not being able to train for 6 months? At least that's the advice I keep hearing from people like Chad Wesley Smith and Greg Nuckols.
@ralphM11149 жыл бұрын
***** You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means. I sincerely think you need to go over your fundamentals once more. When you were lifting, you were all over the place. Your core is weak. Your glutes and hams are weak, hence your hips shooting up so early and your back bearing the brunt of the weight - manifesting as excessive rounding. Your lifting beliefs also need revision. You already failed at a certain weight, very visibly, yet you still tried to lift an even heavier weight. You don't do things like that which can compromise yourself. Not even in front of a camera with a bunch of lifters egging you on.
@yvesbb69909 жыл бұрын
rrralf yeah,not just dangerous (lower back injury is a high risk when pulling maximal loads with this much form breakdown), and like he said overloading the nervous system...how is that a good thing? lol...just looked like an amateur move...
@JacobLizotte9 жыл бұрын
rrralf I have similar problems as this guy, mostly just weak glutes/hips. I'm pretty new to lifting, should I just keep lowering the weight until it's easy to do the form correct? Or is there any accessories I can do for glutes/hips
@ralphM11149 жыл бұрын
Jacob Lizotte Okay, here's a background. I started lifting casually 3 years ago. I got into deadlifting 2 years ago, but it was only a year ago that I got really serious. My PR is 520 lbs @ 155 bodyweight. I hit a major plateau before. My major mistake was that I did not have a lifting buddy. I had someone videotape my DL'ing and that is when I saw all the mistakes that I did not expect I was making. I was not progressing because I had weak points. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If you've identified both your form and posterior chain as the weak points, then by all means strengthen them first. At present, I am not even lifting past 350 lbs, but I feel stronger than ever since I have been going after my weak points. I had weak glutes/hips, too and a bit of lower back rounding. My fix? Pause/isohold deadlifts, stiff-legged deficits, more leg work for leg drive off the floor, and perfecting my form. Isometric/pause deadlifts have been amazing for strengthening and stabilizing my lower back, core, glutes, and hams.
@ralphM11149 жыл бұрын
rrralf I will give myself a couple more months before I even attempt a PR. Lower the weight until you can perform the lift as perfectly as possible. Before, my hips would shoot up too early and my leg drive was disproportionately insufficient. Hence, I was lifting with my back, which made it easier to go after high weight by maximizing my leverage, but compromising my form. So when I hit the limit of my "pull" strength, I hit a major plateau since I neglected my "push" strength: leg drive and hips/posterior chain. Try mixing sumo with conventional, too. Strengthen your squat, go below parallel. Perform ATG pistol squats with dummbells. I have studied good deadlifters, and I have noticed that they have very strong leg drive to negate the initial inertia of the dead weight on the floor. The quicker and easier you break that inertia, the better the rest of the lift will be. Good luck and lift well.

Powerlifters are strong only when operating in perfect conditions. If you take them out of that artificial world by stopping access to steroids and large quantities of food, the numbers will drop like a rock. When you remove the lifting gear, it gets even scarier. And finally, when you make the heavyweight powerlifters cut the unnecessary fat, the records will fall by hundreds of pounds.

I just started lifting again it's been 3 1/2 years. I can tell you 2 of them don't know how to do a dead lift and doing it correctly is already a risk so incorrectly is begging for something bad.

I really miss those kind of workouts. Now, I do as much as I can in the deadlift for between 15 and 20 reps done with very strict form. I was a competitive powerlifter back during most of the '80's and I did all that 1,2, and 3 rep max shit during the time I competed and for 5 years after, and I have to say that doing so did absolutely nothing for my strength. I'll tell you what it did do....it ruined the cartilage in my knees and hips. Now, at nearly 55 years of age, every step I take is a new adventure in pain. I surely wish someone had taken me aside back then and informed me of how dangerous is the ego. I love resistance training and still continue to do it, but the 1, 2, and 3 rep maximum days are long gone..never to return.

@amberwalters70626 жыл бұрын
they dont have to pull as far so shorter is better for deadlift. not rocket science. its common knowledge. plus a 6 foot 4 guy is short compared to a 7 foot 2 guy... why doesnt the 7 foot guy hold the record?
@dctPL6 жыл бұрын
amber walters Actually it's not really easier to pull it. Both a tall guy and a short guy has to generate the same peak strength to lift a heavy object. The only difference is that the taller guy will need to use more energy than the shorter guy because the movement is longer. All in all, as long as you are maxing out doing 1-2 reps it really shows who's absolute strenght is greater. Strength and energy are closely related but are not synonyms.

I love that he crushed while doing real dead lifts. Sumo dead lifts are not dead lifts. The traditional dead lift test/isolates the lower back and hams. When your doing Sumos, especially when your short and your feet are nearly as far apart as the inside weights, you're nearly already standing erect in terms of pelvic tilt so your not testing the lower back or hams, your mostly lifting with your quads... If your doing a dead lift challenge, DO A DEADLIFT CHALLENGE. If you want to do a sumo challenge (don't know why you would) then do that. Its like having a standing curl challenge where one person stands against a wall with back, hips and elbows never leaving the wall completely isolating the bicep and his challenger is allowed to stand where ever he'd like and throw his hips into every lift, swinging the weight up. Did the weight go up,.. yes. Is lifting by swinging the weight up more efficient (in terms of purely getting the weight up),.. yes. Is the the dude swinging the weight up stronger... HELL NO.
@pompoen28178 жыл бұрын

@HillsideFights8 жыл бұрын
+David Villar ok but the thing is, that bodybuilder had the best levers for the movement, super long torso super short stumpy legs and fairly long arms comparatively, he was also the heaviest one there by atleast 10lbs. deadlift is all about levers, and none of those guys, had even slightly as good of levers as the bb
@_.Dave._8 жыл бұрын
+John Smith you are absolutely correct about levers. However, you should know that his long torso is a huge disadvantage mechanically speaking. Being that the fulcrum is the pelvis and the weight is multiplied by the distance away from the fulcrum, his long torso multiples the strain on his pelvis and demands a much stronger lower back to deal with that multiple. Think about holding your arms straight out and then putting a weight of any denomination on your shoulder (the fulcrum itself), your elbow (distance 1x) or holding it in your hand (distance 2x from fulcrum). You would fail much faster holding it in you hands then at your elbow, and holding the weight at you elbows you would fail much sooner then if you rest the weight on your shoulder. As the weight moves closer to the fulcrum, the perceived weight/stress at the fulcrum gets closer to 0. As strong as he is, if he were to use a sumo technique, where he doesn't have to use his hams or lower back anywhere near as much as if he would to do a traditional lift, there would have been no competition at all. I just don't get why people defend sumo's. The point of lifting is to get strong. You would get way stronger deadlifting 25lbs (hams and lower back) properly then sumo-ing 100lbs (bi-passes hams and lower back, and instead targets quads). You'd also get stronger quads by doing quad specific exercises, so the sumo's only real purpose is to maximize the efficiently lifting something generally. But again, that's like watching the scrawny noobs at the gym try to impress people around them by curling half their body weight in the mirror but swinging their entire body behind it every lift while every real lifter around them know, sure they get the weight up but they're not getting stronger or making any gains. Looking at the video again, all those guys are around the same height. They're all pretty short. The only no at a major disadvantage, due to the mechanics of lever distance is Tetzel. And no surprise, he was the first to fail,.. but he also does proper deadlifts. So in terms of actual strength his lower back muscles are probably far stronger then the shorter guys who "beat" him using sumo.
@Grouperhunter7 жыл бұрын
I would of expected a minimum of +750 pound deadlift from +200 pound bodybuilder in this video.I have done conventional deadlifts up to 585 pounds while weighing under 170 pounds.Lots of other sub 180 pound athletes that can deadlift +600 pounds and many of them are lifetime natural athletes.

Huge respect to both sports. Just because Dorian won doesn't mean the others are shite. Excellent job for all. Dorian was always going to 'maintain' strength. The powerlifter usually gets gassed out faster. Both are great. I'm just an average joe but use both techniques to build strength and size. Right now going through a powerlifting program and I'm absolutely loving it.
