@MrrrPiccckles6 жыл бұрын
Man you're right about everything you say I'm not disputing it at all I think what I meant to say was a bodybuilder could never reach the highest levels of combat sport but that doesn't mean they can't be athletic and decent fighters. Just like a fighter could never reach the highest levels of body building and Mike Tyson had a very muscular build but he would never win a body building competition. The main problem with having so much muscle is the energy transfer, it takes so much energy to move around that's why most fighters who are really muscular try to get a quick knockout because over time lactic acid bullds and their body just can't move quickly anymore, they gass and become a shell of them selves. Watch the UFC fight Francis Nguano vs Stipe Miocic for a perfect example.

Isolated strength VS Core strength
@miesvaillanykyisyytta32527 жыл бұрын
The 'core' does not really exist; there's just different muscles. In many sports, the unstated idea is to use a lot of muscles in unison without thinking, which is a skill of its own. A lot of bodybuilders don't progressively load all the muscles that might be associated with the mythical core (like abs) and thus they can have weaknesses too while most other athletes only ever improve in a few muscles because they do not isolate the muscles properly, which is necessary for maximum development.
@miesvaillanykyisyytta32526 жыл бұрын
Thanks for chiming in. Can you provide a source for the core being defined that way? I get the impression that hip flexors and glutes are also considered 'core' every now and then. In any case, it's pretty difficult to isolate hip flexors from abs functionally. In any case, the guy above us V C does not have any evidence for BJJ or martial arts causing progressive long term increase in "core strength". If core strength is defined as oblique, erector and ab strength, then that's certainly much more reliably developed by doing weighted sit-ups, weighted side planks and of course deadlifts, squats, back extensions in a bench etc. Core strength may thus be a valid concept but to say that a guy who does not lift with seriousness has more 'core strength' is silly. Then again this BJJ guy looks like a natural lifter (which still does not mean that martial arts help him much in the strength department) so who knows.
@miesvaillanykyisyytta32526 жыл бұрын
I don't disagree but a lot of those lifts that are praised as working the core only work the muscles statically or in some cases not at all. Usually the idea is that you should take muscles within their full range of motion (within reason) in various exercises instead of simply contracting them in the absence of movement.

Joey Dymarcik *slight. The guys like the big boy in the video can usually squat 500+, deadlift 600ish and bench around 450. The strength advantage isn't small by any means. The problem is, they're not used to BJJ or wrestling at all. It's the same with every person trying a new thing, they won't be good at it without practice
@zero98ify8 жыл бұрын
Joey Dymarcik those examples you gave are both wrestlers, and weak wrestlers at that. Take a look at cm punk and compare him to the guy shown in this video. I absolutely get what you're saying though, an untrained string guy will likely never beat a smaller , but well trained guy. The thing about getting a blue belt in jiu jitsu being easier than squatting mid 500s is bullshit though, and I speak this one from experience because I have done martial arts(it was kio kushin, not sure what the official spelling is bc I was doing it in Russia). Now, I never took PEDs, but squatting 500+ pounds is something you have to do on your own, it can't be done for you, no one can guide you through it and it takes tremendous effort. Getting a blue belt in martial arts requires effort, for sure, but it's done in a group and there are plenty people that can help you out, explain how to better do something etc etc. Blue belt in martial arts does take longer, but that's simply because you can't accelerate the process of getting belts, or you can't by very much. And again, I'm not trying to disregard martial arts,I'm just trying to say that you greatly underrate strength, especially strength when it comes to grappling. Even if the strong person is untrained, they still have a stronger grip, stronger leg drive, a stronger back(erectors and pulling muscles), stronger triceps(helps out a lot if you're pushing someone away) than a normal person, and often these areas are even stronger than many people trained in martial arts. That's all I'm trying to say, strength, even in the hands of an untrained person can definitely help, but not as much as training.

Not really. The smaller guy would wiggle, run scared, go red in the face, sweat a bucket and then maybe luck out and that's after a decade or more of training. Size is extremely important in fighting and it just goes to show that small guys should not become fake tough guys because you'll never be great at it. If you are under six feet tall and don't have godly strength take up dancing or something instead where you can use your size to your advantage and nobody can just walk up to you and give you hell with no training whatsoever.
@spiritchild91018 жыл бұрын
This video highlights the importance of being versatile. It always amazes me how you can be good at one arm exercise, and bad at another. It proves that there are more muscles in each area than most would assume.

yes, although the bodybuilder would have no chance in a fight. I mean he trains for muscle mass and strength, while the jiujiteiro specifically trains to win fights... and we all know what happens when you are a BJJ noob and do your first roll against someone who knows a bit more, you get tapped 10 times without even knowing what is happening. I had a background in powerlifting and got my ass handled to me by girls, teenagers and short, weaker guys more times that I can remember. True story. Still, that only made me want to train harder!
@odditywrks33167 жыл бұрын
***** That is a hard question there is an advantage to EVERYONE who does BJJ. Someone short with short arms and legs has tighter spaces in the guard but its harder to get some submissions and some one who is tall and long they can get a triangle with ease and other submissions that are better with long limbs like that. But as in body mass the only thing i can think of is having more strength and weight and me being 145 pounds having some one who is 230 on top of me is still very uncomfortable. but dont over think about being small or big BJJ is for everyone

+Mi Alva I think it would have been great to show how good technique can easily beat muscle...
@MA-ii3gm8 жыл бұрын
Nicolas Conforti well, that's pretty clear, technique can beat size up to a certain point, and note that i said "size", because size & strength are NOT the same, and people seem to forget that most times
@lancehobbs80128 жыл бұрын
easily? nah thats... why boxing/wresting have weight divisions , and full on hand to hand is even more scary ,getting jumped by a bigger stronger more powerful and very determined man is no fucking joke yeah you can survive with enough experience but there is nothing "easily" about it, its horrible, it hurts, you sustain lifelong inuries and you end up with Post Traumatic' if it happens enough even if u DO survive

what is with these videos? why tf would a bodybuilder WHO DOES NOTHING BUT LIFT WEIGHTS OVER AND OVER AGAIN beat someone who trains in martial arts? they always make these videos and give off this sordov vibe that bodybuilders are mean aggressive people who are supposed to be tough and unstoppable. Pretty much ALL professional bodybuilders are nice guys who just like to build muscle. it seems the whole athletic community and even the freaking world hates bodybuilders and thinks they are all terrible people. go meet a pro bodybuilder, I guarantee they will be a nice guy who just likes to work out.

Zach Cushing Well I'm a amateur Greco-Roman wrestler, I do very similar exercises like the Jiu jitsu guy. My training method has a lot of different protocols, from gymnastics protocols (stuff like weighted towel pull ups, rope climbing, one arm push ups, shrimp squats, running, sprinting, plyometrics, etc.), buddy exercises (repeatedly lifting my workout partner or deep squatting with him in fireman carry), and Strongman/farm boy training protocols (sandbag/keg training, tractor tire exercises, sledgehammer exercises, Maxalding, deadlifts, etc.). My point, I'm positive, cutting wood or baling hay wouldn't really be to hard for a serious athlete, and cutting wood is something I add in my program once in a while. As for the bodybuilder, I'm sure he'll have a difficult time with cutting wood or baling hay, because these are high intensity conditioning exercises, and conditioning training doesn't sound like something a bodybuilder would do.

oh and now that I read this. Im a professional porn-double. In my training I get to sometimes train with smacking the b*thces with whips (also known as whipping) wall-nailing and compound pussy fingering. Not to forget the tit-wheel where I always seem to have an issue controlling the right angle to make a circle. When I am to ride I only concentrate on balancing the hoe on top of me my self, which adds stress to my front shoulders and chests. But still buttf*cking is the haredst exercise with farm girls, when their daddys chase me with hay balers and well...how should I put this. I also carry my yoga math, but seem to lose it on the farm everytime they chase me :((((

No one said jiu jitsu is the best self defense. For me, the best self defense is learning various martial arts, I'm not talking about MMA, but learning different arts, like jiu jitsu (1v1), karate / kung fu for agility, krav maga for both and so on. Michael Jai White is a master in 5 different arts for example and he fights like hell

there would be no contest . The BJJ guy would mount him and choke him the fuck out. You don't know how vulnerable you are. Unless the bodybuilder had some boxing skills and knocked him the fuck out before he could grapple. other wise your neck is gone

One is practical muscles. The other is mainly for show. Now Im not shitting on bodybuilders, my old man used to be one. But theres a difference as a BJJ black belt who also lifts religiously. Theres just such a difference, one is you getting stronger to be more effective at JJ and the other is to look as big as possible.

Mass versus energy. Quantity vs quality. Endurance vs speed. Reliability vs resilience. Locality vs versatility. Static vs dynamic. Stiffness vs flexibility. Potential energy and work vs kinetic energy and momentum. Guess who's in advantage given some real life always changing situations. The best way is somewhere in the middle. Although the 2nd one will cover most of the challenges.

Are u kidding? Jiu Jitsu wins hands down. I am JJJ myself so i am biased. BJJ trains to fight BB tries to build muscle mass BJJ has crushing hands from gi grappling (Jiu jitsu) BB wears straps to lift amazing weights that do biceps BJJ has dense muscle BB has larger muscles (which can be exploited by his jiu jitsu opponent by grabbing and tearing the soft flesh) BJJ are very stretchy and can do some basic acrobatics BB will be a hunchback at 50 Jiu jitsu can throw a powerful punch BB tenses his arm like he's lifting a weight and doesn't understand how to punch Jiu jitsu have calcified rock hard knuckles, elbows and hands, feet and legs BB shatters his knuckles (if he actually manages to hit his opponent)
