Most police departments 21 is the age required. Sadly they can’t wait for 35 year old mature people. Like the military they need young, brave people who are willing to risk it all for the greater good. The older you get the less likely you’re willing to do that. The pool of good people is shrinking since the career has been demonized, so bad people get in. Standards are lowered ect, especially with smaller departments. RIP to that young lady.

I agree with you, my grandmother was a dispatcher and a deputy clerk, and she said 90% of police are weird. She said they had lockers and those officers would have nude magazines in their lockers, and that some of them would even be playing with themselves in their squad cars, literally parked at the department. Yes you are right about that. Many many years ago when I was young like may be 18. I was given a ticket by a cop and told to contact him later to get rid of ticket. I came home told my dad what happened . So my dad said call him. The cop tells me to meet him at some diner. My dad came with me . The look on his face when my dad introduced himself and asked him what in the F did he think he was doing was priceless. This was before camera phones were a thing .. (aging myself.. LOL).

I have worked in law enforcement and for the courts, i have a thing about checking door locks, i will check my locks 3 times before i feel statisfied. Especially having a gun, its the last thing you want, to have ur gun stolen. The fact that he said he didnt want it to be investigated is red flag #1. He knew he had to report it, but only wanted to do the process halfway. In my agency, i wouldnt even call the police, you might as well walk down to IA, CID, and tell them. They need to make it difficult to become a police officer, mental examination, state, and federal test regarding laws having to retest every few yrs, and much more. Also annual physical training exams to stay fit. I know a cop now in the academy, and it seems super easy To become a cop.

It's scary how lots nut cases can become police officers, in my time of being a Deputy Clerk in Superior Criminal Div. and working in Felony Screening Div I've had guys come in trying to get expungements/record restrictions in order to apply for law enforcement (and some trying to run for positions in local government) even trying to get charges that involved juveniles expunged, which is an absolutely NO NO!!!!!!
