I got a settlement out of the pikeville pd back several years ago for arresting me on DUI without FSTs, PBT, or blood draw. They showed up to court with my check for $133,000, another one that was $67,000 for my lawyer and the officer “resigned” shortly after. Thanks to them I was able to purchase my home in 21’ for a total of 235k after closing cost with 20% down, it appraised at 371k this past July😊

@@magdump4456 It was said, I believe in an affidavit, that after he shot the judge he said "They're trying to take my wife and kid from me!". Sounds to me that it's more likely that the judge was trying to help them get away from him. As with most domestic violence situations, the abuser doesn't think they've done anything wrong. In his mind the judge was trying to break up his family. Since, it's apparent that he's afraid of his of his own profession (probably because of his own actions as Sheriff), it's not a stretch that he would treat his own family the same.

It’s literally the go-to phrase that the majority of criminals use because they’re anxious, don’t want to be arrested, etc. They’ll also complain of chest pain in addition to shortness of breath because they think that if they go to the hospital it’s a “get out of jail free” card. Which is a joke, because they’re still going to be arrested, they’re just delaying the inevitable.

Not really, it sounds like he’s shocked and trying to process what’s happening, looking for some reason for it to make sense. Like he doesn’t want to believe that this guy he’s worked with for however long and probably trusted is a cold blooded murderer, he wants to know if there’s a reason for what he did, especially considering the limited details they seemed to have at that moment, with the sheriff allegedly calling his daughter from the judges phone.

I’m a letcher county native, and knew both Kevin and Mickey pretty well. I grew up around Kevin, and he had always been kinda creepy. I lived a few houses down from Mickey and was always a very upstanding guy to me. There is a lot more to this story than is getting attention. I’m not saying the actions are particularly justified, but if the rumors are true, I understand his reasoning. The corruption in Letcher county is extremely widespread. From not only the people we have in office in town, but local business owners and town big wigs as well. I hope mickey does bring to light a lot of the underlying issues that we have, because this town does need a change.

In the preview he mentioned his wife and kid. I think the Judge presiding after a major criminal, threatened the sheriff with harming his family, and said the only way out was to shoot the judge.

Sounds like the trooper transporting him was trying to give him a “gentle hint” on what his story should be in order for him to not reveal what the actual story is…..the story they want him to say in order for them to not kill his family/him

@@buddylight7595no he didn't. A witness stated that he said "They are trying to take my wife and daughter from me". The lead investigator was just paraphrasing what he was his team discussed.

I don't think someone should've lost their life over it but after hearing the state of the sheriff's mental health and what the judge has been accused of doing, and letting other people do to inmates in his office. I'd say it's best that neither of them are in the position of sheriff or judge in that county anymore.

@@ReRe13- gotcha! Just went and watched the motions hearings. Apparently her number was SAVED on judges office phone. The judge and sheriff were friends so there would be circumstances where that would be okay - if there kids car pooled to school or whatever. But it seems like after he called her from the judges phone he lost his mind and killed him. Curious what was said by her - looking forward to this trial

The entire city was under water in 2022. A 1,000 year flood hit the area and devastated the area. Mickey Stines was driving up and down the roads of his community at 2am warning people to evacuate. He also helped three other men rebuild a road to allow EMS access into McRoberts that was isolated due to bridges and crossing being destroyed. We’re lucky to even have the courthouse open for business.
