Thanks for another epic build video. That paper backed foam is called 'foamcore', or 'foam core' in art and design circles. It is available at art stores probably much cheaper than Amazon. Just a heads up, I buy it at an art supply place for as low as $3 for a 2 foot by 4 foot 1/4 inch panel. I bet your town has an art supply store that cares it fairly cheaply, people paint and sketch on it as a cheap canvas.

Hello Ramy, I live in the USA, I am a scratch builder 30 years or more. I use dollar tree foam with the paper both side , to take the paper off get a spray bottle fill it with 70% 100 percent alcohol spray one side the paper will release in 10 to 15 sec peel both side let dry 10 minutes and there you have it, love your video

Ramy - I love your explanations, especially about why you won't make PDF plans - LOL (I wouldn't either)!!! Seeing you make this plane in "real time" makes it so much easier for me to follow, even though also enjoy your time lapse videos as well, I REALLY like this type of video so much! Where are you getting the HUGE pieces of balsa wood? Can you remember about how much you have to spend for that monster piece???
@RamyRC6 жыл бұрын
thank you man, I bought the balsa from ebey.de, it's 5 Euros each

I get why you call it a rib, and it's not wrong. BUT, on a ship those are called FRAMES, so I'd bet they're called that on planes too. Anyway, LOVE your channel. You're amazingly talented and extremely fun to watch. Thank you for sharing with us!

I had a weird dream where Ramy was flying an RC A320 at my local park. Being in a dream, I confused the A320 with the 777. I was like, "DUDE this is soooooooo cool! How come you didn't make a video about when you found the right engines! How come you're not filming your maiden now!" So yeah. It was really cool.

we have the same type of foam board you bought on amazon here in the UK. the trick to get the paper off is by using brake cleaner either in a can or liquid form. which ever you can get. but wear nitrile gloves as brake cleaner is not so good for your skin. love the builds and new video format

A norwegian livery would look so cool on it, and it would match the quantas in color :D
@tjfSIM6 жыл бұрын
Always fascinating to watch your videos! Hope to see the 777 in the sky soon. You probably know already but just for info, the ribs are usually referred to as 'frames' in aircraft construction. And each location where a frame sits is called a 'station'. And the lengthwise strips that run along between the frames in small slots are known as stringers. Then you have the spanwise beams that run transversally across.

Great Video Ramy! It's really helpful. So all I was saying for the pdf is how the foamboard has to be cut out. Because that's what I think I'll have my main problem with. Also if someone does make a Pdf could you maybe have it accessible in the description? Thanks a lot for what you're doing! Can't wait to see the next one!

Hi ramy, I think your 777 is great. but it was too heavy. I know its great to be looked like real. but we have to reduce the weight as much as posibble. all other your recently build without epoxy resin were awesome. I watch all your videos. I like the way you use ruller on the screen and other methods. but it seem you forgot to calculate the weight. I clearly remember how your qantas boeing 737 max at first. On instagram you told as that the plane is very heavy and has a lot problems like a battery placement issue. At first maiden it was tail heavy, and luckyly you could made it safe to the ground. after a couple of modification finally the aircraft flies incredible and went viral on facebook. I hope you could think another way to reduce the weight on 777 and bring that georgeous lady to the sky. this is just my opinion, please no hard feeling. I love watching your videos, all of your effort. you are STAR on youtube for RC airliner right now! remember this word... Because, in the vast night sky, you are the only STAR that we see.

If you want the paper off the depront, use Isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. Let it soak for a few seconds and it should come off.

@wingnutzster5 жыл бұрын
I know I’m late to the party but I have to say something - the terminology you’re looking for is not ‘rub’ ribs are found in the wings and tailplane, any airfoil uses ribs to provide shape and strength, the fuselage of a monocoque structure use ‘formers’ and stringers to define the shape and at different cross section locations are called stations. I studied aircraft engineering - airframe specialist please take my word for it.
@AirCatAviation6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ramy, it looks amazing! So neat... mine really needs some tidying up! I’m building an A320, slightly smaller, it’s 1.13 meters long. It will probably fly on just one 4S. With a 3S for the lights maybe. When you bend round the foam, is the paper on the outside or inside? And could I put it on the foam myself? Finally, then with the wiring, do they just connect to the receiver, then to the servo on the other side? Thanks, Max.

I have to help further - the part you refer to as the ‘rudder’ is actually a vertical stabilizer(VS) the rudder is the hinged part on the trailing edge of the VS likewise the elevator is the hinges part or control surface of the horizontal stab commonly referred to as the ‘stab’ the grouping of the vertical and horizontal stabs is called the empennage. I would be happy to convert your drawings to PDF and DXF if no one has done that yet. I doubt you’ll read this but if you do please get in touch

Ramy, I am in the process of making my own model airliner, I just would like to know where you get the dimensions of the real airliner (before you scale all the parts down to the scale of the model) as I cant find some of them for the 787/9 :D And by the way, you videos are really good now that you explain complicated stuff more, it is really helping me!

Would be a good idea if you wanted to peel the paper off easily, to make kind of like a mix between a hot wire and a wood plane. something flat that holds the wire tight just below the paper and can peel the paper quite easily. maybe even has stubby exacto blades on either side to cut the paper in the right sized strips to peel with the plane.

Damn you do amazing work mate, is this just your hobby or is it your livelihood? Seriously you have mad skillz and RC manufacturing companies should be beating down your door if they're not already. I realize you are basically prototyping but you really should look at finding someone to help you turn some of your designs into kits, people will throw money at you to own a plane of the quality that you build!
