Spectacular jet blast after torrential rain ! This is how test pilots are flying.

Well a couple of those planes that took off were apparently about to stall so the plane decided that nose diving into the ground was better.
@Jamenator1
@Jamenator1 4 жыл бұрын
@@OfficialSamuelC Neither of the aircraft which crashed were even remotely close to a stall. Both crashed due to bad AOA data being fed to computer. The cause of the bad data in the first crash is not officially known but the aircraft had prior issues (including MCAS activation which the crew correctly overrode), on the day it crashed it had just come out of maintenance who obviously failed to fix the issue. The cause of the bad data in the 2nd crash is theorized to be the result of a bird striking the left AOA sensor, damaging it and causing it to send bad data to the flight control computer which then used the bad data

Sad yes but completely avoidable. Pilot error. Out of thousands of flights, 2 went down......while tragic it isnt out of the ordinary for a new model. Happened 3 times with the 727 I believe. And in those cases it was pilot error and not having experience on a new plane. The 727s were capable of landing on shorter runways due to a new wing design that pilots weren't used too. It's the same with the 737.......there is anti stall safety feature that pilots, especially in lesser developed areas, aren't familiar with.

The main problem is pilot did not know about the MCAS, the 737MAX was amazing
@videogames7774
@videogames7774 5 жыл бұрын
The crash fault wasn't the plane MCAS system. It was because of the pilots that didn't have a proper training about the new MCAS system. They should have desactivated the MCAS system when the nose of the plane is already stabalized with the horizon. The MCAS system prevents the plane from stalling (On high speed) if the nose of the plane is pointing up with a high thrust applied. You won't be able to recover the plane stability again and it may lead to the plane to stall. Thats why the MCAS system was invented for. It is also needed so the plane can pass the quality and safety inspection before being launched on the market. So everyone who is saying things like its the plane fault etc. First you must do a research before complaining and second with a lil bit more of knowledge about the new system those pilots could have avoided that crash. (Sorry for my english, thank you)

@@tecno4u31 The plane takes off at a very steep angle of attack (risking a stall). The MCAS system is designed to kick in, in that scenario, and reduce the angle of attack for nine seconds at a time. No it was. MCAS detected that the plane was nearly vertical here and so pushed the nose down. On both crashed flights, the MCAS detected the plane was nearly vertical when it was just flying straight because of a faulty sensor and so pushed the nose down. This caused a nose dive too close to the ground and they crashed...

@@TheFrenchPug Unlikely, MCAS only operates with flaps up and at the edge of the envelope (high Angle of Attack). Even if it did operate, all it will do is increase the pull force on the yoke required to perform the maneuvers. MCAS is not a hard protection like on airbus, all it does is attempt to make the aircraft feel more stable by increasing the pull force required at high AOA by in putting some nose down trim, it does not stop the crew from making aggressive maneuvers
@TheFrenchPug
@TheFrenchPug 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jamenator1 Well, then, it sounds like something else was causing the trim tabs (?) to be driven all the way down on that screw. My friend flies the Airbus A380 (?) for Fed Ex and said it sounds like they were fighting the MCAS or bad AOA sensor input somehow but he has not flown in one himself.
@Jamenator1
@Jamenator1 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheFrenchPug If you are referring to the recent Lion Air and possibly Ethiopian crash. MCAS was the likely cause, except only that it was being fed false data from a sensor. The fact that the lion air crew managed to fight MCAS for 12 mins goes to show that it is not an aggressive or sudden trim input. It is also instantly overridden by the crew's trim inputs, i.e. the crew have higher priority than MCAS and their trim inputs override those of MCAS. However it is insidious and unforgiving, each time the crew stop trimming, MCAS will start trimming again after a 5 sec delay if AOA is still high (or if bad data still exists). Looking at the data from the lion air recorders, the crew at the end stopped trimming against MCAS (possibly distracted), there were a few short trim inputs but not enough, so essentially they let it wind the trim further and further nose down without realizing until it was too late and the aircraft couldn't be held in level flight. I'm guessing the most recent crash will turn out to be similar
@TheFrenchPug
@TheFrenchPug 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jamenator1 I believe you will be correct. Based on what we've been told, that is what makes the most sense. But they could have also turned MCAS off however, is it possible with bad data coming in the pilots still weren't sure of their attitude?

It is not the airplane’s fault. I realize that the investigations are not concluded yet, but the majority of us pilots who fly the 737 variants understand perfectly what happened. If American-trained pilots were flying those two airplanes, they would not have crashed. Now everyone is going to tiptoe around the real cause, and will be afraid to say that third-world pilots and airlines are a whole different world than in the USA. We are spoiled, because we earned it. But that is why flying is so safe in the states. The cause of the crashes is technical to explain, and people do not have that long of an attention span. They want their news is 30 second clips, but this can’t be explained in 30 seconds. You need to understand aerodynamics first, then 737 systems, redundancy, what MCAS does and does not do....I could go on. The 737 MAX is a fantastic airplane.
