Stationed at Offutt, was an x-ray tech..but hospital dorm was full so they put me in with the sp's...my room mate was one of the few on board. At that time, mid 80's, one E-4 was always in the air...the other would take off then the one up would land. Loved my time at Offutt, never seen so many stars outside of the night sky!.

I was stationed at Offutt AFB in the 90's and remember this video. Thanks for posting it! I've been all over inside these planes! Very unquie aircraft with a very important mission!

Joel, I enjoy your appreciation for the missions and thank you for your Service. You're confusing the E-4B NAOC (then NEACP) mission with the old EC-135C Looking Glass mission. The latter flew 24 hours per day with three flights, the relief aircraft relieving the on-station before the relieved on-station could land. The NAOC/NEACP primarily sat on ground alert.

Ah, the 1ACCS. I'll be back one of these days!

There's a lot more information available to you. You're wise to have perceived the same problem that resulted in the NEACP/NAOC being moved inland. It was found more viable and survivable to have the NAOC launch with its crew more rapidly from a more inland survivable location and provide connectivity to the President who could be more rapidly evacuated via other means. He/she and his/her staff do not have to physically be on board to employ the aircraft and its crew.

Thank you! Thank you! jaglavksoldier! I have been trying to find pictures/video on this damn plane with ZERO success. My father-in-law works on the satcom on the E-4 but he cannot get me on board. Anyway, thanks again!

the only problem I see with this system is getting all the important individuals (the president and key members of his administration) onboard the plane and miles into the air in the short time that we'd have before detonation
